He's cutting back on daily appearances from next week according to MSNBC. Motivation is political of course. He's polling too badly.

Trump just said at the latest briefing.. you guys should probably wear masks but I wont be wearing a mask..at what stage does this go beyond a black comedy, 1500 dead in the last 24 hours and this is what he has to say for himself..Jesus Christ

They are probably drinking disinfectant now all over America

His ramblings are something else but he's sharp when he needs to respond. He knows the price of oil.

Knowing a fact someone told you 30 seconds ago does not count as sharp

On the other hand bringing the UV light inside the body could be done by sticking a light bulb up ones anus for a series of 5 minute phototherapy sessions. Might be interesting I will put myself forward for trials:cool:

Seems Trump's question wasn't as dumb as you all believed it to be at all and in fact UV light can be brought inside the body:
Cedars-Sinai-Developed ‘Healight' Medical Device Platform Technology Being Studied as a Potential First-in-Class COVID-19 Treatment

Led by Mark Pimentel, MD, the research team of the Medically Associated Science and Technology (MAST) Program at Cedars-Sinai has been developing the patent-pending Healight platform since 2016 and has produced a growing body of scientific evidence demonstrating pre-clinical safety and effectiveness of the technology as an antiviral and antibacterial treatment. The Healight technology employs proprietary methods of administering intermittent ultraviolet (UV) A light via a novel endotracheal medical device. Pre-clinical findings indicate the technology's significant impact on eradicating a wide range of viruses and bacteria, inclusive of coronavirus. The data have been the basis of discussions with the FDA for a near-term path to enable human use for the potential treatment of coronavirus in intubated patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). Beyond the initial pursuit of a coronavirus ICU indication, additional data suggest broader clinical applications for the technology across a range of viral and bacterial pathogens. This includes bacteria implicated in ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP).

"Our team has shown that administering a specific spectrum of UV-A light can eradicate viruses in infected human cells (including coronavirus) and bacteria in the area while preserving healthy cells," stated Dr. Pimentel of Cedars-Sinai. Ali Rezaie, MD, one of the inventors of this technology states, "Our lab at Cedars-Sinai has extensively studied the effects of this unique technology on bacteria and viruses. Based on our findings we believe this therapeutic approach has the potential to significantly impact the high morbidity and mortality of coronavirus-infected patients and patients infected with other respiratory pathogens. We are looking forward to partnering with Aytu BioScience to move this technology forward for the benefit of patients all over the world."

Hmm.....I'd be more likely to try bleach than this one....here's why.

UVA,B and C all have been used in medical applications for decades, including probes, cauterising etc....
This 'device' is pre clinical - which means it does not exist. It means the UVA is known to kill bacteria and certain virus.

However, I see two big problems:
    - the dosage (power, band and duration) is critical

    - This device 'seems' to be inserted into the trachea and guided to the left and right bronchus at best. This is a very small percentage of the functional parts of the lungs .
So while it may be effective for upper respiratory inflection, it seems to be unable to treat lower tract where covid-19 seems to be attacking

    - It is currently unregulated and as it is requires insertion into the body - it is at least a class 2b medical device which will require years of trial before certification

The company pushing this are a 'well known' for profit medical organisation with a patchy record

finally, about a month ago, they were a 'dime' stock but have significant uptick in the last month.
    Someone is making money here.....

(PS. I work in a ancillary industry so know this medical space (UV, IR in healthcare applications) well)

Seems Trump's question wasn't as dumb as you all believed it to be at all and in fact UV light can be brought inside the body:

    Actually, rereading the published aritcle
the light probe is inserted into the breathing tube during intubation....

Each tube type will have different UV absorption properties - some may even block all UV

Not sure what your point is. Nobody is saying that the treatment is effective, nor proven, in fact it's not even close to that.

The point is that the world laughed at Trump for asking a question, including myself (although I didn't go so far as to misrepresent what he had said by claiming he had advocated for the injecting/swallowing of bleach) and it turns out they shouldn't have as scientists have not just pondered that very question themselves, but in fact created a device to further their hypothesis.

You are playing with semantics now....

The video clearly has him asking the "Doctor" is injecting bleach an option.

It was as dumb as trying to drop a nuke in a hurricane or to buy Greenland ....

He has one asset - thats his enormous belief in his own views. He has claimed to an expert on economics, healthcare, railroads, postal service.

History will report that he collapsed the American economy, added $2-3T to the American deficit, collapsed the US oil fracking industry and turned the US in a socialist state by providing free healthcare, bailing out companies large and small and providing social insurance to the unemployed, was trolled by North Korea, Iran and Russia - Not the normal GOP traits

He is really one step for being a commie

Oh, no, Outlaw Pete, Trump has said it was just a joke. You weren't supposed to try to defend those statements. They were "a sarcastic question" to silly journalists. You should have pointed out the ridiculousness of the notion of light inside the body. You weren't supposed to go looking for crazy ways he could have been right. It was just a joke.

So the joke was on you, or the people who rely on Presidential briefings for real information, or maybe both.

I any case it's the let's fault, right?

I wonder what it's like to be a trump supporter, defending all his idiotic rambling nonsense, they must be trolls, no way they can take that clown serious

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,401 ✭✭✭all about the mane

What else happened the same day. People need to stop looking at that stupid statement, and start looking at what else himself and the GOP were up to. Why do the media and posters fall for this circus trick every time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 653 ✭✭✭Irish_peppa

Did he really say that about dropping the Nuke in the hurricane? Like is there any footage or recording of this statement or is that hear say from an "inside source" Has he ever been questioned about this comment in a live press interview.

Something really needs to be done with this man...

Surely some powerful and somewhat decent and smart people can get him off the fooking stage?

Are the U.S. really this effing bad, that they can allow him continue running wild?

They’re is a lot of people culpable here for what this lunatic is espousing...

He dominated the news cycle for another 2 days with that stupid stuff. And you can see from Outlaw Pete that the people who like him won't hold that kind of stuff against him. If anything they'll spend one half of the day looking for reasons to support what he said and then switch horses mid stream to back the idea that he was only joking.

It really isn't a problem for him but it means he dominated the news for a couple of days which is great for a narcissist.

Yep, this device is ridiculously badly designed. If the UV light cannot penetrate cells, than it cannot kill viruses that are inside infected cells multiplying and preparing to release more virus particles

It would not kill any virus that was in the shadow of the direct UV light and there would be shadows everywhere inside the lungs or upper respiratory tract
Plus there are hundreds of different tissue types in the lungs that perform vital functions that would be very vulnerable to ionizing radiation like UVA that kills viruses because it breaks the chemical bonds in their RNA
Any exposure high enough to kill all of the virus inside an infected human would do massive collateral damage

It’s prima facia bonkers to put a sterilizing agent inside a living organism and expect it to not kill that organism

Radiotherapy targets tumours, localized sites with carefully directed beams of radiation that still cause huge and debilitating side effects
Viruses create a systematic infection that cannot be targeted in the same way as a cancerous tumour

All if a sudden, fox news is taking allegations of sexual assault very seriously. Top story on the website yesterday was tucker carlson dedicating a big segment to allegations against Biden from the 80s.

I don't think carlson would bother doing a show about allegations against Trump. So yes, by November Biden will be the devil incarnate on fox news

Both sides love to fling sh!t at each other look what they tried to do Bret Kavanaugh and all the allegations that have been thrown at Donald. It's nothing new but we can't act like only one side is engaging in the sh!t throwing.
