Fauci needs to take a holiday and complete shut off from the whole thing for a week or 2.

He is barely sleeping apparently and he sounds and looks rough.

They are not listening to him anyway, so he might as well.

So Colorado, Pennsylvania and Florida can be added the list of anecdotal evidence suggesting that less people are becoming severely sick and dying from COVID 19. Thats a lot of doctors from various places saying the same thing now. Some of that can be explained by the younger demographic of patients, but survival in those over 60 who are hospitalized is also improving. Hopefully the states currently seeing surges can avoid New York levels of deaths due to these improved treatments.

Pennsylvania isn't currently spiking and had considerable deaths. Colorado is about average for cases to deaths. Florida is only 8 days into a huge spike in cases and time will tell how that pans out on deaths.

    There are no treatments.

Arizona has already begun to see deaths increase and their surge is less than a week and a half old. 79 deaths today is the high for them so far.

As sure as night follows day the deaths will follow as everywhere else sadly.

    Can't defy gravity.

    There are no treatments.
    .

There are though. And how they treat patients has evolved over the course of the pandemic and has resulted in more successful outcomes. Thats a fact.

Not saying certain states aren't in for a rough ride with the rise in cases, but hopefully not at the same scale as seen earlier on.
He also said UMPC has improved tools for helping the sickest patients, including the drug Remdesivir, and has “gained experience in how to best care for” COVID-19 patients. He noted that early in the pandemic, doctors usually put the sickest patients on breathing ventilators. But UPMC learned “it was difficult for them to successfully come off, and their outcomes simply aren’t as good.
Doctors were quickly intubating patients, believing it was the best chance to save their lives from a contagious and deadly disease they had never seen before. But a lot has changed in three months about the treatment protocol for COVID-19 — use of the antiviral drug remdesivr, injections of convalescent plasma from recovered patients, and even the simple act of placing hospital patients on their stomachs instead of their backs
Ralls told Eyewitness News medical professionals have learned to better treated COVID-19 patients using Remdesivir, an antiviral drug that was developed to treat Ebola.

“Once they start on this medication … they need it for five days, so they are in the hospital longer than they would have normally been,” Ralls said. “So that could be a reason why our inpatient numbers have ticked up a little.”

Orange County Health Officer Dr. Raul Pino said additional doses of Remdesivir was provided by the state.

Doctors said, so far, the investigation phases have been promising.

The CDC have said that they believe there could be 10 times more cases in the US than the official count. Not surprising given the amount of asymptomatic cases that there appear to be. Its always been known that testing is only finding a percentage of actual cases, especially in the early days when availability was limited
The true number of Americans who've been infected with COVID-19 may top 20 million, according to new estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"Our best estimate right now is that for every case that's reported, there actually are 10 other infections," CDC director Dr. Robert Redfield said on a call with reporters Thursday.

The estimate comes from looking at blood samples across the country for the presence of antibodies to the virus. For every confirmed case of COVID-19, 10 more people had antibodies, Redfield said.

Currently, there are 2.3 million COVID-19 cases reported in the U.S. The CDC's new estimate pushes the actual number of coronavirus cases up to at least 23 million.

Cuomo doing a victory lap despite the carnage in New York and scandal of the nursing homes has been repulsive. CNN and MSNBC have done a propaganda job for him.

Before someone doe a whataboutism regarding GOP governors yes I know many of them have failed just as badly,,,De Santiis did a gloating interview with Pence which looks worse by the day.

I like to hold both sides accountable.:)

could he have actually handled this worse? highest single day of new cases yesterday.

They have already damaged the economy with their half assed lockdown, they can't afford and don't have the appetite for a 2 month proper lockdown {which is what they need} now.

Given the size and influence of the states worldwide this kind of scuppers any global attempt to eradicate this, it is a vaccine or bust at this stage.

Life cannot go back to 100% normal until there is one.

    Reading reports yep.

Its a little concerning the numbers there but Florida has done relatively well so far, keeping an eye on the number of deaths next few week is the big thing.

Very poor performance from the Us.

It starts at the top with Trump.
Both Democrat and Republican state governors have also been poor. Not all but some.
    City mayors have failed also.
Individuals throughout the Us have also let their country down by not following restrictions.

I have family and a few friends in different parts of the Us who consistently see people paying no attention to "doing the right thing " in shops or on public transport etc.

American companies and the general economic performance of America have such a massive knock on affect on the rest of the world.
    Not good at all.

Fake news!!! Mainstream media!! Alternative facts!!

That's all you will hear from the echo chamber of Trumps support base. The way he has handled this is criminally negligent having caused the deaths of thousands of people.

That graph is indefensible as he looks to now hide cases. It is criminal.

Some people don't understand the federal state governance system

And some president's don't understand that dealing with a major pandemic will take more than hiding in a bunker while your stormtroopers gas peaceful protesters and clergy, then getting a nphoto op with a Bible (held upside-down, very satanic).

Lack of leadership is what has caused 125k deaths and this number will continue to rise for the foreseeable future.

So sad to read what’s happening in the US. I’ve got friends in Texas and they’re just incredulous as to why people won’t wear masks. One of them said a lot of people over there will genuinely throw tantrums about haircuts and having to wear masks. I wonder is another lockdown in the county possible if this continues to spike everywhere?

Unfortunately one of those people happens to be POTUS.

He could have handled this so much better. He forced many states to open early, the pressure he put on to reopen meant that people started demanding it and states looking to remain closed were called as unpatriotic etc.

Yeah Trump is a ****show, but no state was "forced" to reopen. They had no choice but to because they would be completely ****ed otherwise. There are still loads of people in my state who haven't received a penny of the unemployment benefits that they are entitled to. Loads of non citizens, legal and not, who aren't entitled to anything. My husband has paid a lot of taxes over 7 years and cant claim anything. Fortunately we are ok for now but others aren't so lucky. The system is broken. Not everyone wanting to get back to work so that they dont end up homeless is a mindless trump drone.

Many states are still under some form of restrictions. We are staying in phase 2 for now so its not like the whole country has thrown the doors completely open. If you look at the curves for each individual state, most would look a lot more like Europe.

Can't they sit at home and watch netflix?

But yeah their was a lot of sneering at those who protested the lockdowns and of course like many protests you always get the oddballs who deserve mocking, but many were protesting because they were out of work and struggling to provide for their family.

The constant tedious sneer " they just want a haircut !! " brigade completely oblivious to this.

You'd hope in an election year that the GOP would have enough sense to realise that with these financial nightmares that so many people are facing they can find a way to get money into ordinary people's hands,,,but sadly they are talking about "fiscal conservatism" now.

They were 'forced' to because POTUS ran a campaign that everything was fine, masks were not necessary, the virus was a hoax, plenty of ventilators, the economy needs to get back.

So instead of being able to take a cautious approach, states were put on the back foot on having to explain why they were restricting peoples freedom.

Remember his tweet about Liberty, in support of those protesting against lockdown?

Remember he threatened Governors of they didn't agree with him?

Due to Trump being so utterly incompetent many pass off what he says and does as irrelevant or harmless, when the position of POTUS gives him immense importance and influence.

Americans are finding to their cost that POTUS is not a game, not something to be taken lightly of passed off as something that any eejit can do.

It has real consequences, in this case people are dying and the economy is going to be hit much harder and longer than it could have been.
