Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Who wouldn't! Having to deliver the same bad news and answer basically the same questions day after day must create a certain "distancing" effect.

Is there a reason you're including the German test results in new cases?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,789 ✭✭✭Quantum Erasure

Surely these figures have to drop this week. They can't be increasing indefinitely.

We're flattening the curve, it'll be like this for a while

Seems like our new cases have stagnated. 548 today and 527 yesterday.

New cases in theory should start to drop from the end of the week, deaths sadly will continue to rise for a long time yet.

That’s a bizarre observation to make. I’d imagine the man may be under a small bit of pressure so what if he takes his glasses off.

The restrictions are clearly not working

548 cases is the equivalent of Italy recording 7,000 cases in a day per head of population. They maxed at 6,200.

Highest number of new cases and deaths today.

    RIP to all.

More deaths yesterday than Croatia have had deaths full stop. Croatia is 15km away from Italy.

The increase would be exponential without the restrictions.

90,646 tests done. Christ that's a massive increase.

I assume now the back log is gone

How come Mary Lou (SF) had to wait so long for her result while Simon Coveney, Ryan Turbidy and Claire Byrne had fast results?

    Script issue.
They didn't have the correct output for "invalid", which came from German electronic files. Invalid wasn't encountered during script testing.
Invalid means that there was an issue with the Irish sample, which would then require a new sample, but by then 14 days would probably have passed.

Restrictions are working , you just have to bear in mind that there is a lag from when restrictions started to when results from them will be seen

With restrictions in place why are deaths still rising? We are past 14 days since they were introduced

I think they got tested before the rush, her test got caught in the backlog

6.4% really is still quite large growth like, that means cases doubling nationally in a little over every fortnight

They now do a full total which they split into new ones , tested here, and the German ones which are the backlog.

I suppose he didn’t want to hang those involved in setting up the IT system. A glitch makes it sound like an uncontrollable computer issue. Obviously no effective review by a human when the German results entered the Irish IT system.

His graphs show the German tests included in the newly diagnosed Irish cases when they're in fact historical. It's creating a misleading growth figure.

How long have you been on this forum? You still don't seem to know the first thing about the dynamics of a pandemic. The shutdown was designed to stop the worst happening - a flood into ICU and critical care with thousands dying in and outside the that environment. It was never going to act like a guillotine.

The peak will be slow coming the peak will plateau and the slope back down will be months in the unfolding.
