Wondering the same. My workplace is organising flu shots for all staff next month and they'll cover the cost. Not sure what difference, if any, itll make but it cant do any harm is my way of thinking so I'm going to avail of it.

I’ve never had the flu vaccine but I have been wondering if I should this year. I have only ever had 1 bad flu which was 25 years ago, but not a nice memory. I know Covid isnt the same, but maybe worth getting it just for peace of mind?

Flu scuks. Get the vaccine. Like Covid, you can share it readily. I live with an asthmatic, I get the vaccine nearly every year. The one year I didn't due to various life complications, I massively regretted it. Fortunately didn't give it to herself who had gotten vaccinated. Took me nearly 6 weeks to completely recover. 103.7F fevers, lost about 10 pounds the hard way, spent weeks being awake maybe 4 hours a day. Just awful. While living in the UWS of NYC, which made it way worse.

Flu kills a lot of people and is miserable. Moving to Ireland, I found it very interesting how the NHS in the UK stresses the severity of the flu, where the medical establishment in the US pooh-poohs it.

I thinking of getting it done , local pharmacy offering service for small sum around 20 quid
at least having it done would give me a better knowledge that it's not the flu and maybe then something else .
I am putting my name on the list as the flu vaccine is due into country soon and god knows the demand .
    this is Ireland like .

It's how we do it here in West Kerry, go down to the Potageir and pay 15 or 20 euros.

The vaccine only gives partial protection against the influenza viruses in circulation so you can still get the flu if you've been vaccinated. That said, your chances of getting the flu would be significantly reduced so IMO getting vaccinated is a no-brainer.

    None today, thankfully.

1 increase from yesterday though. Now on 343. Quite low over all throughout the country though. I wonder were those 3 deaths in Ireland from this week or more delayed announcements?

Yesterday's figure rose by 1 in Kerry. We have another increase again in today's figures (159 in Ireland), so we will know tomorrow by how many.

That's a big jump from the 1's & 2's we were getting. Hope no more big jumps like that.

Eight the other day? How does this compare to the bad days in March/May?

    5 again today.

I think the spike we are seeing nationwide is ultimately a result of the school's returning. The timing is too coincidental.

No, the upward trajectory began several weeks before schools reopened.

It's primarily the result of a general complacency that set in after the restrictions were relaxed at the end of June. Too many people are socialising with too many others from outside their own households and not taking rigourous enough precautions.
