13 is Patti Pan. Credit to Clarabel on my team because I never even heard of it.

As per yesterday, feel free to discuss those rounds!

The most recent person to win an Olympic medal...

Annalise Murphy won in Rio, but Rob Heffernan was awarded bronze since because he came 4th and someone higher up was disqualified.

    Discuss.

Yes, but Heffernan didn't actually win his in London, if he had he would have been on the podium. He won it much later when the Russian was disqualified. It just happened to be for his performance in London. I think it comes down to how you read and interpret the question as there's a case for both answers to be correct.

So it has been pointed out that the oldest club in Ireland wasnt founded in 1886. Game mods felt it was too late to update the question and let people resubmit, and we know the date put some teams off - so we decided to make the question null and void and give everyone a point. The correct answer would have been either Fingalians or Round Towers, who were both founded in 1884 (i was unable to find an exact date to separate them).

With regards to the issue of Rob Heffernan being awarded a medal after the fact; noone submitted Rob as an answer, so its a bit of a hypothetical for the quiz - but if it had come up, we would have ruled Annalise to be the correct answer. Rob ranwalked the race that won his medal in 2012. Just took the Olympic committee a long time to give him his medal (imo of course). Its a good one though Sulli :)

The united one - answer used to be 14, but Hartlepool Utd dropped down to the national league last year iirc.

One final one - maybe there was some confusion over the record number of scores in a game of hurling. We were looking for scores, not points; record as far as i could verify was 68 scores. Noone got it anyway, so doesnt really impact the overall positions.

Baggly could I ask why my team (Team 8) got only 1 point in R3 Q1?
Looking at the answers I sent yesterday I can see we have all 3 correct. . .

I always thought swede/turnip were the same thing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Small differences, but the green sprouts at the top were the giveaway i think.

    EDIT:

    Grabbed from wiki;

The rutabaga or swede differs from the turnip (Brassica rapa) in that it is typically larger and yellow-orange rather than white. ... In the north of England and Scotland, the larger, yellow rutabagas are called neeps or swede from folk etymology, while the smaller white turnips are called turnips..

Jesus christ we absolutely suck at this. Why do some teams get half a point for the pepper?

Due to the confusion over the question, we left it at no point for closest. Felt it was fairest.

Massive thank you to my teammates for that 4th round score. Outside of broccoli I hadn't a clue.
