We'll be blessed to get to the break in front.

Alan Smith is so biased it's a joke.

The only thing id say is that we dont look at all sloppy, just giving them a bit of space is all

    One on one its good.

We never defend the line in front of the centre halves from crosses

Fluke of a goal, but no less then they deserve.

How can Jose not see what we can see . Ffs take doherty off being skinned alive

Any right back gets skinned two on one imo

The centre backs ignoring opposition players from crosses is where id be looking tbh, they never never never follow the man

Aurier might push us up the field a bit.
    Disappointed in Doherty.

Been coimg and deserved. Doherty getting skinned every time. Not gettimg any help from Bale who has been missing as well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,428 ✭✭✭MrKingsley

Doherty has been killed by a couple of things.

1: NDombele and Sanchez not covering the space beside him.

2: He is an atrocious defender

Stop . There just pushing the ball past him and skipping past him like he’s not there. All ya have to do is look at the goal we conceded.

Ive seen us play a lot worse than that but need to see a lot more cover from the midfield, they are crossing for fun

Kane needs to provide a focal point as well

Draw at half time a good result for us but we can lift our game a lot more in the second half, they had a very late return from europa and i think we push on from here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,796 ✭✭✭Mr. Guappa

Lucky to be level on the balance of play. Goal aside, Lamela has made a difference, but we are still so passive and reactive. Our goal came from our only little spell of anything resembling pressure.

    Maybe, maybe.

Im likely being influence by the fact that aurier is a horrorshow, and i havent forgotten it just because hes been absent lately!

Bale is not giving him much of a hand either.

I agree he's being outnumbered but it's so straightforward. He presses Tierney and gets Sanchez or NDombele to fill the channel. None of them have taken responsibility for it.

But to get skinned like that for the goal is pathetic. Let him go inside for gods sake

The ref should have awarded two goals for the Rabona.

Bale is tucking in to stop the ball going to Party/Xhaka everytime so that must be the instruction given

They hit the woodwork twice as well so we're lucky it's 1-1 to be honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,733 ✭✭✭Glebee

Bottom line. Sh1te firat have from spurs. Too many players not preforming.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,891 ✭✭✭✭tom1ie

Judging on the last couple of games I think we’ll push on in the second half as we are better than we’ve shown so far.
We are a better team than arsenal.

I missed the fact that it was a rabona and only realised after this post and went back to have a look.

I'm not too upset going in 1 all as we were slow out of the gate. Bale needs to step up.

We will be triumphant but will take a Jose lambasting at the break to spark it.

Just had a look at the Arsenal thread. One thing we all seem to agree on is that Doherty is getting roasted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,796 ✭✭✭spurshero

Love t. Half time optimism . I only see a arsenal win after watching first half . Please prove me wrong spurs !

When’s the last time we had a right back who was a good defender? Doherty, Serge, Trippy, Walker, Hutton, Carr, Chimbonda all good going forward. Corluka maybe? He was slow though. Can’t think who else we had. Stalteri, Kerslake, Austin, Hughton, KWP.

Carr was excellent both parts of the game

Corluka was super defensively, very underrated player. No pace but a lovely passer up the flank too.

Whisper it, whisper it....Davinson having an excellent game again

We are giving it away with the second touch a lot. Cmon lads give the defence a break

Stevie Carr was a good defender no?

Carr was often a liability defensively, barring one great season where he mastered everything

Well if he mastered everything for one whole season then he was a top quality right sided defender in my book.

He broke through in very much a wing back role tbh and our defence through his time there was an afterthought a lot of the time, i remember him as a talented tackler and aggressive decisive defender who was good for the odd wondergoal and a great crosser.

If we as a club treat the defensive aspect of the full back role with contempt its hard to rate how the players put in there perform in that area tbh.

Sissoko on to cover doherty a bit, bale off

Rightly so he hasnt looked like helping us at all today imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,749 ✭✭✭golfball37

Paul Miller was the last good rb we had ! And he was useless too. Probably Joe Kinnear in all seriousness. Steve Carr was probably best of bad lot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,891 ✭✭✭✭tom1ie

Bale off sissoko on. I wonder is that to help out Doherty and enable him to push on a bit?

Ndombele has had a bad game, not stepped up at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,733 ✭✭✭Glebee

I think we were right about Bale. " am i off" he said. Too right mate. Put on someone who givez a damn.

We need to see out the next few minutes and start hitting them

The passing is awful, time and again giving it away for absolutely no reason
