Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Alli with a bit of magic again

Lucas and winks turn it into mud but look, small steps small steps

Thats a poor tackle imo, scissored sissoko and brought him down from the side

Ref doesnt look eager to manage this game so far

Sissoko- doherty- bale- doherty passing combo is reaping dividends tonight

Much better - more cohesion, more ambition, more effort and more end product

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,442 ✭✭✭Charliebull

Great to Ali playing and actually trying,
I hope the lad turns a corner

    Bale playing well too

This player has had the ref under orders all night though, he shouldve been booked twice and has bought fouls on demand.

Right call but the ref hasnt been playing square with us

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,442 ✭✭✭Charliebull

    Davies getting roasted

Davies, winks are absolutely at their level tonight

    Dier at centre half also

We're going to pick up injuries this ref would need to see a murder weapon with matching prints to book one of theirs

How many subs can we make tonight, thats three now with lamela and bergwijn on

Would hope to see two of the youngsters too

Commentary team pointing out that vinicius hasnt had much of an input

Back post again and we get away with it. Should be a one goal game, and for nothing

Edit, not back post tbf thats on the man not tracking runners

Winks and davies wouldnt get a game for these lads

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,442 ✭✭✭Charliebull

    Typical fcuking Spurs

Having to put on hojbjerg and ndombele after being three nil up at half time

Spurs always making a bad news story out of it

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,442 ✭✭✭Charliebull

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,442 ✭✭✭Charliebull

    Sissoko off sulking

    He was useless

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,442 ✭✭✭Charliebull

Shocking decision by ref but wtf was dier at after

Ref is absolutely taking the mickey here.

Bergwijn done nothing since coming on and not showing at all

Vinicius nicks a goal but passing and effort and quality went to hell in the end

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,442 ✭✭✭Charliebull

    Thought Ali played well

    Vini deserves a run

Bale had a good first half

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,428 ✭✭✭MrKingsley

Didn't see the game tonight. By the sounds of it we showed a bit of ambition(in the first half at least).

Here is one of my biggest complaints about the season so far.

When it's comes summer time why in gods name would Vinicius choose to stay at spurs?

He's been given such little game time. If Jose doesn't rate him at all then fair enough. Get rid of him now so.

He clearly has a good touch, work rate and brain. Give him a run of games for gods sake.

Otherwise we will find ourselves in the same spot in 4 months asking what happens when Kane goes down? If Vinny can't even get a start or two when the only player in his position is injured then good luck.

Excellent first half, tho defence easy got at

Shaky nervy and poor in second after stupid sissoko peno from nowhere

Vinicius is so different from Kane its hard for players to adapt to him staying up front and in the box, i think

Id put it on the players behind him to step up tho, agree with you that hes done his job most of the time hes gotten a chance

He's barley even gotten a chance though. He's played the EL and two rounds of the FA cup.

Just saw that we've played more games than any other European teams so far this season.

He's started 7 games and scored 7 goals. And I could care less if they were against duds. Another goal when 1-0 up in numerous games would have us in a strong position.

Give the man a chance to prove what he can offer to the club long term

Would you drop Kane , to give a man (on loan, and might leave anyway) a run ?

I wouldnt. Maybe in cup games, but not for much else.
He got a run last night, and did very little.

Didn't say anything about dropping Kane.

But when Kane was injured how much did Vinny play?

What was the point of signing a centre forward if he is going to be 3rd/4th choice.

Of course not, but we could actually try 4-4-2 with Kane and Vini
Put the ball in the box to him, lad seems to know how to put it away

Leaving Son out on the left wing ?

So you wouldnt want Alli involved at all then ?

Its all pie in the sky anyway, Vini will not be given a run in a 442.
Kane wants to come deep get the ball, and release Son running in behind defence.
Vini could do neither of those jobs. Thats a fact.

I think theres scope to have two centre forwards at a club getting minutes without "dropping" one

99% of clubs in the history of football have managed it

So you have to drop either Son or Kane to give Vini minutes on the pitch ?

So we can never have a centre forward backup for kane?

So the last few years of him getting either injured or run into the ground or the team utterly unable to function without him is good not bad?

We can all interrogate each others posts with passive-aggressive misrepresentative questions like this, by the way. Not my preferred mode tbh.

Interrogate ???? im questioning peoples opinions!?! on a public forum ....
And i cant help how you chose to read my questions.

Vinicus is on loan , as back up to kane.
Thats it. Wheres the ambiguity ?
hes nowhere near as good as Kane.

Function - Usually if you take a world class player out of a top 6(?) team, they will suffer massively.
Look at Pool when VVD got injured , they struggled.
If we were missing Son, we would suffer too.
Its not the forwards that are the real problem, its the defence.

we could maybe change tactics for a game,
maybe change tactics during a game,
yes maybe drop kane or son

why not mix it up, if we cant paly tru them, then maybe put on vini and put a few balls in the box

i recall both kane and vini in the mix against west brom and us getting a late winner by lumping balls in the box

fergie managed to keep 4 strikers happy, yorke, cole, sheringham, solskear

I think its clear that you can have cover for a vital position without using terms like "dropping" every time a player doesn't play for gods sake.

Everyone knows the problems not having cover for Kane has given us for years.

Why only have one way to play though?
We need another tactic as teams have sussed that out.
What about vinny playing up top and being a target man son can run off with Kane supplying passes. Then during the match vinny drops deep, draws their defence out, allowing space for son to run in on Kane’s passes.
We have to be more than one dimensional.

Lloris, Tanganga, Sanchez, Dier, Reguilón, Højbjerg, Ndombele, Lamela, Lucas, Son, Kane.

Happy with that line up. We are much more positive with Ndombele in the deeper role. Great to have Reguilon back too. I would like to see us stick with the same CB pairing for a run of games - it would be Rodon and Alderweireld for me, but don't really care, just stick with a pairing.

Great to have Reggie back, Sanchez I just don't get, for me he's fifth choice in our CB jigsaw.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,442 ✭✭✭Charliebull

    Dier and Sanchez frightens me

Not sure re Lucas but good attacking line up

Thats its lads, just stand there and watch a simple nothing cross come in...dier then turns to blame someone else.

Ok, so maybe any pairing that doesn't include Dier.

Give it away for no reason in midfield again and two of them against four of us provokes panic

Not a single attacking players wants to run to get the ball when we have it

Not a single defending player wants to run with his man when we dont

Incredible run from lamela, kane should cross for son
