    Hi All,
With the lockdown I've decided to look at setting up an e-store for a charity I volunteer with.

First choice is the Woocommerce platform and so I've a few Qs that I'd appreciate some guidance on.

    1) Do I need to use the wordpress web platform or can I download something to use via the laptop?

    2) The org I volunteer with wouldn't have the cash to pay the ongoing fees mentioned on the WP site so is there a free or lower cost version out there I could look at.

    Thanks

Are you looking at Wordpress.com or Wordpress.org?

Wordpress.org is the self-hosted version and can be hosted for as little as €5 p.m., if you know what you're doing...

The alternatives are Shopify and Sqaurespace.

I think Kenny covered most of it there, not sure what the cheapest Shopify rate is but it right be the most suitable,
here's a link to some of the differences between the wordpress.com and .org versions https://wplessons.com/wordpress-org-v-wordpress-com/

Unfortunately you wont get much for free and will surely have some spend to get going

If you have your domain and hosting already sorted, WordPress shouldn't cost you anything.

Ask your web host about installing WordPress for you (onto your web hosting).
