Have not read the full thread but proper adult shows that I always recommend (be aware they are not action packed or pacy): Halt and Catch Fire and probably tied with The Wire at second place in the greatest tv show of all time....Rectify. Also honourable mentions for the Leftovers and Banshee.

A really old one if you can get it is Rescue Me, it's a post 9/11 fire engine based drama, Denis Leary is the main character, I loved it. Still have a sneaky re-look every now and again, great viewing.

I must rewatch that. Used to love in the early 2000’s

If you have sky or now tv, Gomorra is one of the best tv shows of all time. 4 seasons of vicious Neapolitan gangsters. It makes suburra look like the tellytubbies, and suburra is really good.

Zerozerozero is a lot like Gomorrah if you liked that, more English scenes aswell though, Gabriel Byrne is in it.

It’s subtitles. Dunno if you can dub it on sky/now tv, tho I can’t really watch shows that are dubbed.
The dialogue and scenes are fast and non-stop so you probably won’t catch all the subtitles, but it doesn’t really matter, you still can follow the story.

not me, you spend most of your time concentrating on reading and miss the subtle facial expressions (though i prefer it to dubbed)

Mare of Easttown (one season show with Kate Winslet) it has just finished, would recommend

    Read faster! :D

In all seriousness, it's an acquired skill. Do it enough and your eyes don't even see the text anymore.

Agree. Winslet is excellent. Set in a fierce dreary place

Love godfather of Harlem, it's really good. It's up there. There's only 2 seasons so lots of story left to be told

Power early seasons are good but it became a chore in the last season I just wanted it to end. I've not bothered with the spin off (and there's more coming I'll be avoiding)

Succession is a great watch. Very few likeable characters but for some reason you do end up feeling a bit sorry for them. A bit like ......

    :D

    Really? It's closer to Dallas.

Not a big fan of many true crime shows , but this one is great

Netflix has released it's brand new crime documentary, Dream/Killer. The film follows Bill Ferguson, who takes on the American judicial system after his son, Ryan Ferguson, was falsely sentenced to 40 years in prison.

That Halston thing is good for mindless escapism, if you can get over some of the strange accents and wooden acting.
Cocaine, Studio 54, Liza Minnelli, what's not to like?

I didn't say it was like Breaking Bad ;)

I liked Schtisel (Netflix), though there's a hollow underneath it through the existence of Palestine and the Palestinians never being mentioned.
