The 3700X is £30 cheaper and they're basically identical. The 3800X never really made sense.

Unless you want the bling of the watercooler, the Wraith cooler that comes with the 3700X is a good cooler and looks the part as well with the RGB fan.

16GB RAM is more than fine for now, 32GB is overkill at present. We're just getting into 16GB being ideal at this point, it will be very many years before 32GB becomes the 'new' 16GB.

The 2070 Super is the best value card, the 2080S is way more expensive for small gains, so that's fine.

    Thank you for the reply.

Went with the 3800X for that extra base clock speed as I want to future proof as much as possible and it's only an extra 30 quid.

Same reason for the RAM, want to future proof. I like to be able to game on one screen, watch streams, download stuff on the other. I know 32GB might be overkill for this. Do you think the RAM speed is too much? I know AMD benefit more from the speed Vs Intel?

Yeah the 2070 Super looks like a class GPU, I'll stick with that one.

Gotta have that bling for the cooler :D

It's only 100mhz. The 3800X is only something like 1% faster. It really won't make any difference at any point whatsoever! It was a really weird move by AMD.

The RAM point is fair enough though and does make sense in that context. Yes, Ryzen is more sensitive to fast RAM then Intel.

    3800X is better binned.

Half of all 3800X should reach stable 4.25GHz all-core, most 3700X will struggle past 4.15GHz.

Yes it's only a small % but chips are binned for a reason :)

    Yes, but case in point - 4.25ghz v 4.15ghz?

It makes no difference. Spending £30 on a 1-2% increase is mad when you could spend it on a bigger SSD, better case, or whatever.
