No, because its not a car. You'll need a Commercial policy, because its a commercial vehicle.

You can insure the van for private use, but you may need to make enquiries as not all insurers provide that cover for a van. You will also need to change the taxation class to 'Private'.

If a van is used for private use do you still have to get it tested for emissions annually?

It will still need the commercial vehicle test, rather than the car test.

As it will be insured privately it will also be on the cc tax system not the commercial 333 so expect to pay the dearer tax rate also.
