    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can help me with this

New build, x570 MB, Ryzen 5 3600 and an RX480 8gb from an older machine.

I can get Win 10 installed and all the way to the desktop then Win updates starts running and I lose the display

Have to then reinstall Windows, and quickly restart into safe mode
Tried updating the driver using AMDs software but won't complete installation as its safe mode

Tried just downloading the drivers from AMD website but when I restarted into normal AMD can't install the drivers as Windows is updating and then the display goes.

Anyone dealt with and fixed this issue before ?

Wild shot, but maybe set the GPU to use PCI-Express 3.0 in BIOS?

Tried that on one of the restarts, its set for PCI.
If I disconnect the ethernet/wifi will that stop Win10 updates ?

is there a bios change switch on the card?

or have you tried changing over from HDMI to Displayport?

    1. Boot her in safe mode and enable RDP
    2. Reboot into normal boot
    3. Remote in from your laptop and finish the install, reboot.

No BIOS switch on the GPU
Driver the different outputs but no change

Trying this now, updated the drivers using the AMD software but still no output.

Its very frustating as the GPU was working perfectly in my last build up until the weekend, never had issues like this with it

    Remotes in from a laptop.
Finished the driver installation, all looks okay but still no display output.

I'm seeing a lot of AMD driver issues online but I'd really rather not have to fork out for a new GPU now as well because of a driver issue

Long shot., but did you try use DDU?

https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html Usually works a treat resolving GPU driver issues.

Is there any other machine you can test the GPU on to make sure tis not dead?

Tried DDU but same problem when I restarted.

Can test the GPU, sold all my old parts last week, GPU had been working fine before then.

Everything works perfectly until windows or AMD start updating the display drivers

Is there anyway you output from the motherboard hdmi but using the GPU ?

Or is it likely to be a driver issue with my monitor ?

Are you sure you are using the right driver? If so try a different driver version maybe?

Did you install your chipset drivers for the motherboard?

I've tried diff versions of the drivers but all give the same result

Yup, I've even gone and updated the BIOS, tried installing to a diff, clean drive, still no display.

Could I have bricked the GPU somehow ?

I know it's stupid but are you sure you reconnected the power cables to the gpu on the rebuild?

Yup, checked the connection and tried a diff 8pin as well but same issue.

Right update in case anyone wants to know

Tried updating the motherboard drivers first, display stops working.
Using Gigabyte Xpress install copied to USB from the CD

    Clean install of Windows
    Didnt connect to internet
Found GPU drivers on SSD from old build
GPU drivers were installed and display updated and all worked perfectly
    .
Installed chip-set drivers, and display stopped working

I think after all this the issue is the motherboard and not the GPU
Motherboard is the Aorus X570 ITX

Has anyone had their GPU stop working after updating drivers ?

    have an Asus 580 OC 4gb on a Bazooka b450 board with a 2600.

All runs perfectly until I update the display drivers then the GPU fans stop and there's no output.
I'm not even sure how to go about fixing the problem since there's no APU to download the drivers separately.

Is this the second time you've had this happen?

Completely forgot about that, it was a build for a friend. I did this to fix it - "Start in safe mode, it won't load the display driver. Uninstall the old driver. Use some software to properly remove it.

Get a fresh download of the latest driver. Reinstall it."

That's not working this time though

    PC up and running now
    .
I've paused the latest window update as the display drive in it is going to break my display again:) And I need to get some work done before having to go through all that again.
(will just restart in safe mode, DDU, and then install amd drivers again)

I had some other issues with drivers, windows on older drives and then fast boot.
Fast boot was one that only came to light when I had everything set up and then restarted and no log in screen.

If nothing else I've picked up some new troubleshooting skills :D
