Nirvana - Where Did You Sleep Last Night ; great cover and better song

Placebo - Running Up That Hill ; another of my noms and just an amazing cover

Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Blinded by the Light ; such a great cover didn't realise that Springsteen was the original artist until a few years ago

Queens of the Stone Age - Outlaw Blues ; tough call, like them both, but one of the best live music experiences I ever had was at a Blues Club in Chicago, so when in doubt I'll side with the Blues

Nirvana - Where Did You Sleep Last Night. I love old blues music, so this gets my vote.

Johnny Cash - Hurt. A legendary performance.

Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Blinded by the Light. They really made the song their own.

Queens of the Stone Age - Outlaw Blues. Wasn't familiar with either so just had a listen and I really like this.

Thin Lizzy - Whiskey in The Jar Vs Nirvana - Where Did You Sleep Last Night - both good covers but Nirvana also have The Man Who Sold The World to go forward.

Placebo - Running Up That Hill Vs Johnny Cash - Hurt - Placebo did a decent job but it doesn't beat the original, whereas Johnny Cash's does.

Queens of the Stone Age - Outlaw Blues Vs Ben Folds - Bitches ain't **** - really like QOTSA, and the Ben Folds one just seems like it's trying a bit too hard to be quirky.

Some of them are already decided so I will concentrate on the ones left (in bold).

Thin Lizzy - Whiskey in The Jar Vs Nirvana - Where Did You Sleep Last Night
Placebo - Running Up That Hill Vs Johnny Cash - Hurt - Haunting piece of music.
Siouxsie and The Banshees - Dear Prudence Vs Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Blinded by the Light - Two of my nominations against each other! I had to plump for the latter for its psychedelic feel.
Queens of the Stone Age - Outlaw Blues Vs Ben Folds - Bitches ain't ****

    My votes in bold below.

Aretha Franklin - Respect Vs Gary Jules - Mad World - Great soul classic.

Good synth.-based tune. Just listened to the other song - not bad.

Match 17: Aretha Franklin - a legend - I will admit though that I won't mind if Mad World goes through
Match 18: Soft Cell - one of my nominations and one of the classiest 80's songs
Match 19: Sinead O'Connor - another one of my nominations and one my favourite voices of all time.
Match 20: Nirvana - the whole unplugged performance was very good!!

Aretha Franklin - Respect. Aretha is a legend.

Alabama 3 - Speed of the Sound of Loneliness. Really tough one this, but have to go with my nomination, even just to ensure it avoids a whitewash. :)

Guns 'N' Roses - Live and Let Die. Possibly better than the original.

Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World. Nirvana get the vote just because it's not my favourite Beach Boys song.

Had to do research on that, He co-wrote it, but the version we are all familiar with was first recorded by Patti Smith. On those grounds, I deemed it valid.

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah ; tough call as both are really good, nut even of Hallelujah was greatly overplayed for many years, there's no denying how great it is.

Scissor Sisters - Comfortably Numb ; not a fan of CCR at all, and its a decent enough Comfortably Numb cover

No Doubt - It's My Life ; sticking with my nomination

Communards - Don't Leave Me This Way ; love this song

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground Vs No Doubt - It's My Life - Solid performance, although, from my first listening of the other, it's not bad either.

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah Vs Patti Smith - Gloria - Even aside from it being ridiculously overplayed, I don't like Buckley's Hallelujah at all. Patti's a legend.

Scissor Sisters - Comfortably Numb Vs Creedence Clearwater Revival - The Midnight Special - I like a bit of CCR but I think Scissor Sisters is a more interesting take on the original.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground Vs No Doubt - It's My Life - No Doubt did a good job on this song.

Communards - Don't Leave Me This Way Vs Johnny Cash - Rusty Cage - Gimme Johnny's pleasant growl over Jimmy Sommerville's irritating helium-drenched vocal anyday.
