Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi I may have to move out of current accommodation at a some stage. I have filled in an SWA form. If my application was accepted, would social welfare pay full deposit or part of it. How does it work?

    There are two possibilities.

Firstly, if you are in the Dublin area, and are considered to meet the homeless criteria (ie, that you cannot reasonably be expected to remain where you live, and cannot source alternative accommodation through your own means), then you can access Homeless HAP. In practice, they generally only permit this where you have a notice from your landlord that expires within the next month, or if you have entered into homeless accommodation. If you are admitted on to Homeless HAP, they will pay the deposit for you.

If you go for Regular HAP, or if you cannot access HAP at the minute because of the Pandemic, you can apply for assistance with the deposit through the Rent Supplement scheme. Assistance with deposit is discretionary, so there is no automatic entitlement, but if your circumstances are compelling, you may receive the help. Speak with your local Community Welfare Officer.
