Narrowest Lawn Mower?

I'm looking for a very narrow lawnmower to trim grass from around beech hedging.

The beech are about 30.5cm (a foot in old money) apart.

The narrowest I've been able to find are the Bosch Rotak 32 and the Flymo Turbo Lite 250.

I can't use a strimmer as all that's needed is one slip to de-bark the beech.

Any ideas?

Remove the turf and mulch.

Or kill it with very carefully applied roundup (paint roller?).

That grass is competing with the hedge.

Echoing what Lumen said - you're making a rod for your own back if you want to keep grass trimmed *between* the plants in a beech hedge.

also, if the beech are planted every 30cm, a 30cm lawnmower will be too wide, as the width of the stem would reduce the gap to below 30cm.

Agree that grass has no place under a hedge and should be sprayed off.
Are you planning on keeping a lawnmower sized hole every 30cm as the hedge matures and fills in?

How about something like this?



normally used for the edges on manicured lawns, but should also work to trim around your bush(es)

some models can even be converted into light hedge clippers
