If you have a private pension kicking in when you retire, do you still get full old age pension
If you have savings, do you still get full old age pension

The State Pension (Contributory) is paid to people from the age of 66 who have enough (PRSI) contributions. It is sometimes called the old-age pension.

The State Pension (Contributory) is not means tested. You can have other income and still get it.

If you did not make contributions, then you are means tested and may not get a state pension.

What about widows pension, is that the same as contributory or is it means tested, thank you for above

You may automatically qualify for a Widow's, Widower's or Surviving Civil Partner's (Contributory) Pension if your late spouse or civil partner was getting either a State Pension (Transition) or State Pension (Contributory), which included an increase for a dependent spouse or civil partner (or would have included an increase but for the fact that you were getting State Pension (Non-Contributory), Blind Pension or Carer's Allowance).


It depends as there is a Contributory or non-Contributory version...but it is easy to figure out. I would just call CIPS and go through your specific details with them and they will be able to tell you.
