Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Corporate VPN affecting wireless network?

    Hoping for some informed input......

Working from home like a lot of people at the moment. Have FTTH 150 through Digiweb with a Fritz!Box 7560 router.

On the work laptop, I frequently have to use a Corporate VPN for accessing certain sites/systems. I may just be incorrectly associating this to use of the VPN, but it's starting to seem like when I'm connected to the VPN, I'm seeing a lot more issues with the Wireless network in general (for other devices too). Wireless network dropping out, patchy connection, lower speeds etc.

I would guess the lower speed might be expected to an extent, but is it possible that connecting to a VPN on one device (work laptop) could be impacting upon the operation of the overall wireless network (while that VPN connection is active)?

    Thanks for any input!

First thing I would do is install "wifi analyzer" or similar on your phone (if android) and do some surveys around the house to see exactly what the situation is.

Chances are you need to play with the channels a little to get away from neighbouring interference.

Also wire a laptop direct to a lan port on the router and do a speedtest from it.

Using software vpn on your laptop won't normally impact the router adversly.

Depending on setup your machine may be waiting for the domains WSUS server to connect to perform updates, connect to VPN, laptop thinks its home and starts pulling gigs of updates, heavy load.
