    Hi ,

I am going to buy a bike and doing some research online I have it narrowed down to 2 or possibly 3 that I can get from my local shop. With the lock down I cant really go to far nor try out multiple choice's.

I've decided to go with a hybrid and will be used for a small commute(<100 KM per week).

I will avile of the CTW scheme and just looking for a recommendtion on the best buy from the folowing:

Cube Nature,Giant Escape 2 and Trek FX2 all similar priced and tbh I dont want nor need to go any more expensive.

To me they seem similar but asking for the views of posters here.

    Cheers

The Cube is going to be heavier and possibly slower due to the sprung forks which aren't needed unless you're going off paved roads. Pity as I like the funky colour scheme and I'd prefer the 3x10 Deore and XT drivetrain to the Altus on the other two. Probably not what you're after.

Tough call between the Trek and the Giant, personally I'd prefer the 2x8 gearing on the Giant over the 3x8 on the Trek for a light commuting bike. More robust and needs a bit less servicing. Very similar bikes apart from that. My wife has had an early version of the Escape for about 12 years now and it is still going strong.

Having had a Giant Rapid 3 for 10 year's, they're a great reliable bike. 25mm tyres and it flies.
Also have a Giant Defy, wouldn't hesitate buying their brand again.

The Rapid is a lovely bike but basically a flat bar version of the Defy, a much sportier bike than the Escape.

Had giant excape 3 and trek fx1, bought at the same time. No one was better than the other, similar bikes just different colors basically.

Hey Folks...not sure if I’m in the right spot for this query.....

I am looking a purchase a hybrid bike with the primary use for carrying small kid/s on short journeys (in the current climate). I have a Hamax smiley rear seat carrier and I will possibly be looking to put a crossbar seat on the bike also. I was looking at the following 2:

1: HOPRIDER 100 LONG DISTANCE CITY BIKE TALL FRAME - coming in at €330 at decathlon

2: Giant Escape 3 Bike - coming in at €399 at Giant

*can’t post links to the above....

The hoprider has all the extras, lights, mudguards, rear carrier and is €70 cheaper....the Giant comes as a basic package but I would imagine it being a Giant the build quality would be better if Im carrying extra weight in the shape of kids...given the relatively little use this will get I am leaning towards the hoprider but I’d be interested in any advice, thoughts or alternatives.......

    Cheers!

To me a grip shifter would be a no go. I really dislike these things.

The Giant Escape 2 is available in a City version with mudguards and a carrier but it is more expensive than the Escape 3.
