F2000 modem channel issues

    Hi all,

I have a 150mb eir FTTH connection for about 18 months. On the fixed connection it's perfect never ever have an issue but the wifi is brutal and all I can pin it to is the channel.

I downloaded the app WiFi Analyzer and it told me that the configured channel was bad so I switched it to a recommended channel and it just said the same thing. Every time I switch channel it just goes red.

I disabled the 5 GHz channel just to eliminate that but it's still the same. Bear in mind I am in a rural house with no immediate neighbours so it's not other networks. The only thing I can think it might be is the eir_wifi SSID and my 2.4 GHz SSID are in contention. Surprise surprise I can't disable the eir_wifi because my account seems to be broken on myeir.

I just did a speed test on the Wifi there and my ping is 98ms with download speeds of 2mbps sitting within 3 metres of the router. On the fixed line the ping was 4ms and download speed around 140.

    Anyone have any ideas?

If you don't have neighbors nearby as in terraced housing / apartments then it's unlikely to be a channel issue.
5.4GHz won't be affecting it nor will the eirWifi as eifWifi is broadcast on same channel setup anyway.

Have you wireless devices such as wireless cameras, cordless phones, baby monitors, bluetooth devices etc. that could possibly be causing interference?
Have you tried different phones, tablets, laptop? How do they perform?
Otherwise it's most likely an issue with your phone or possibly a faulty wireless router.

Thanks for that. I don't have any devices that would really impact the signal. I have a wifi security camera that depends on the wifi but I was having these issues before that was put in. There are only 2 adults in the house so all that's connected to the wifi is the camera, 2 phones, 2 laptops and a wifi speaker.

It's just strange that changing the channel on the router is the only thing that fixes it, and I usually have to do it every 2/3 days

The wifi speaker and wireless camera are both devices that absolutely can kill your wifi speeds.
Try powering off both and then run speed tests on each phone / laptop with just that phone or laptop connected.

I have a Bose bluetooth speaker that nukes the 2.4GHz when ever it's in use.
