Ball-breakingly slow on Chrome on my Android tablet.

I guess it's just random based on your session, rather than on the device.

How come I am getting normal load times at least 95% of the time (Firefox, Touch Site)?

I'm a subscriber using uBlock Origin (which I installed a number of years ago when experiencing slow load times, and it made a huge improvement).

I suspect some part of the background loading/tracking (there is a *lot*) is the cause of the issue people are experiencing, but that's just a guess on my part....

Only real issue i am experiencing at the moment is very slow attachment load times.

Edit: Submitting and editing this post took about 6 seconds each.

seems to me a lot of people are having this issue and not with the general internet - I suspect that it's a boards.ie issue to be fixed.

100% a boards issue. Now on Android phone as I'm getting Error 524, time out issues on chrome.

BTW there is an unanswered request on the issue with the help desk since yesterday!

Site's on its last legs...slow as sh1t and can't even do a search without a huge banner ad blocking the results.

Fook all being done to fix any of it apparently.

Took about 2 minutes to load any page tonight.
For the last few days its been taking about 1 minute per page.

    Its getting sicker.

The site is very slow to load. Also, I’m not getting email notifications of some subscribed threads, but I’m getting emails for threads I’m no longer subscribed to?

I empathize with the issues you’re having & understand it might be difficult to fix them in the current circumstances. But it’s driving me loopy. :)

The site is unusable for me. It doesn't matter what device or os I use. Will it be like this until the Boards office reopens?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 216 ✭✭turbostan

Site is unusable now, and has been for days
Thought it was my Internet at first but its only boards.ie (chrome on android)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,802 ✭✭✭✭suicide_circus

m.boards.ie still unusable for me on android :( and that's the only format I enjoy.

I've cleared cache etc and switched between browsers but no joy.

desktop and touch site running slow but usable.

I have downloaded uBlock Origin Chrome add-on. I am not noticing any big change in slow load times.

Did you do anything in addition to downloading the add-on?

Long load times on chrome mobile, about ten seconds.

It's been awful for months on and off only on the touch site, similar problems last year for ages- great forum but needs maintained - whether it's a voluntary yearly contribution or what I don't know but something needs to be done

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,966 ✭✭✭JDxtra

Sounds to me like, for whatever reason, the key technical staff required are not available to troubleshoot the issue.

Post counts must be way down. Casual users don't have patience when sites that don't work and certainly won't go changing browsers or going into incognito mode.

Hopefully it is resolved soon, as it's barely usable at the moment.

Very slow in Safari but loading fine for me in Chrome. Touch site on my iPhone is fine too.

Awfully slow on my Samsung phone using Chrome.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,374 ✭✭✭aido79

Mine was painfully slow for the last week or so. Yesterday I cleared cookies and browsing data and straight away saw a massive improvement in load times for pages. Maybe give it a go and see if it helps.
Using Samsung phone and chrome by the way.

Have it working well after changing browser to one I'n never used for boards.ie before except can't get any attachments to load. Externally linked pics work but not internally embedded ones.

Chrome Incognito seems to make a huge difference.

edit : for browsing, posting still painful.

No, nothing else. Not saying that's a fix for the current issue, but thought it was worth posting about.

Perhaps Boards.ie staff could give a quick update on how things are going with resolving this issue?

    Welcome to the '90s
Guys is this a hardware failure, a DDOS attack or malicious software?
    Any update would be appreciated.

It's not a DDoS or we'd be contending with Cloudfare every 30 seconds. Database issue maybe? Probably no point in guessing

Very slow in Safari but loading fine for me in Chrome. Touch site on my iPhone is fine too.

Since this I manually deleted Boards from Safari's website data and history, restarted my Mac and now the site is loading fine. We'll see for how long...

Fine on my Samsung phone with Chrome.

Awful on my laptop using Chrome.

Fine on my laptop using incognito on Chrome.

    What a weird website.

I was just going to post that and then read your, post.
Not a DDos. Cloud flare would have kicked in.

Seems to only be an issue on mobiles.

Nah two desktops and a laptop here all have problems with some browsers all work with some but not the same browsers. None can see pictures linked as attachments.

No major problems loading pages but what I am seeing is

Clicking linked images just doesn't work
Some forums are coming up with pages from 15/16/17 years ago (bargain alerts for one)

    Using chrome on Android.
