Helping someone leave Three. Already ported to VM.
SIM-free 12 month contract is up.
They were on a 30-day rollover basis.
Can someone confirm if Three need to be notified in writing in this case ?
If so, what's the address to be used ?
Three were notified by phone of intent to leave but omitted to say if it had to be put in writing.
    Thanks.

Generally, porting when out of contract doesn't require notice as most/all of the networks charge in advance (with useage outside of allowances charged in arrears).

A final bill up to date of port will be issued, there should only be charges for non inclusive usage. In theory there should be credit for portion of the month after the port date until end of billing month as there is unused service that has already been paid for but they may just balance that against any non inclusive charges and call it even. Others may know exactly what normally happens with any credit due.

The main thing to ensure is that any direct debits to three are stopped after any charges due have been paid so that they don't keep submitting payment requests. Even if they do submit payment request in error, the amount can be recouped easily but that's more work than just cancelling it initially.

    A quick update.
Things panned out as you suggested. Switched to VM and what looks to be a final bill arrived today for less than 5 euros. Direct debit already closed so the final bill will have to be paid via the Post Office or bank transfer. Hopefully that will be the end of it. A decent network ( at least in Dublin ) and was fine when paying 15 euro a month. But never worth 30 per month. VM fine so far as it should be on the same network. I feel for anyone dealing with 3's customer service currently. I can see the merits of a good PAYG offer with hindsight. Never underestimate the power to switch at will.
