Laptop Ram online?

Working/training from home due to current restrictions.

My laptop is an Asus X550C
Intel (R) Core i5-3337U CPU @ 1.80GHz
4.00 GB RAM

I am using a full version of Revit 2020 and it is extremely slow. I really need 8.00 GB of RAM for Revit.

How easy is it to install RAM myself and where online is best to buy with fastest delivery?

RAM is very easy to install just make sure you have matching type and it's a simple plug in.

If your running revit I would put in 16 or 32. If you get into anything bigger than a house in revit you will need more than 8.

I am really just doing a little professional development during lockdown. Did a very short Revit course at the beginning of the year. Novice really just exploring the possibility of using it in my current career. House related projects.

Could I just add 4GB or 8GB of RAM? There is another slot available. Maybe add 8GB into the slot? Where on the laptop do I find the info to match the RAM? I think that I am looking for DDR3I

How many ram slots are there? You says there's a spare slot? I assume the RAM in it is 2 x 2GB. Always make sure you put in the same size slots (so if you are upgrading the 2 slots, make sure both get the same amount of RAM)

Edit: Nevermind. Just realised what laptop it is!

you are looking for laptop ram size so that will be "sodimm"

need to check ddr type. it's ddr3 for that laptop and there is one free ram slot

2gb onboard soldered and 1 slot for max 8gb

so buy a ddr3 sodimm 8gb size 1600 speed. that will give you 2gb soldered + 8gb = 10gb total ram

Revit needs a good graphics card, 16gb ram and preferably installed onto an ssd hard drive to run smoothly

his laptop can't take 16gb ram - max is whatever is soldered on (2gb or 4gb) + 8gb

his cpu is old and only gets just over 2000 on cpu benchmark which is not great these days

no, it's a link to a benchmark score of your laptop cpu

your laptop cpu is not worth 2115 if you were thinking that.

Upgraded by 8gb so 12gb in total now. Haven’t had a proper chance to text it yet. Handy enough to insert god knows what the big brand computer shops would have charged for installation

you should always do your own upgrading for both software and hardware it's easier than you think and theres any amount of people to help if you get stuck.

Cheers all! I knew that I was looking for ddr3 ram but I wasn't aware of ddr3l.

it's not the l (ram power level) that is important it's the smaller sodimm form factor vs desktop size ram.
