Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi I am on disability allowance. My partner is on a good salary. We are not currently cohabiting. Will I lose both medical card and disability allowance if we do marry? Thanks.

Sorry I missed this. If you tell me your partners gross monthly salary I’ll work it out for you.

If you're in receipt of disability allowance you are entitled to a medical card regardless of your means (you only, not your to be husband/wife)

If you do pick up work and you're in receipt of DA you can retain your medical card and earn upto €427 per week on top of D

Not 100% sure but surely you'd be able to keep your card on the grounds of DA and your husband will be unsuccessful for his if wages are too high.

Include a medical report with your medical card review /application when you marry

Not true. Medical card is means tested for those on disability. As you point out, you can earn increased amount, but you are still subject to a means test.

If your medical costs are so high that it would be unduly harsh to give you a card, you can be given a card on a discretionary basis, which is given to you on a personal basis, not for any dependents.
