    Hi all

Can anyone point me in the direction of places to socialise online safely during the lockdown?

Maybe quizzes or games of some kind.

Anything safe and simple for some chat and craic with other people.

    Thanks

I've used zoom and house party with friends for some chats and drinks and both were great. I'm not a quiz person tho but I imagine either would be fine there wasn't ant freezes or time delays etc

    Thanks for that.

The thing is I don't really have any friends.

I had made an effort to socialise more in early March, and then the lockdown started.

I'd like to try the zoom or skype apps to chat to people, like a pub quiz or a games night.

Does anyone know of any places that do these kinds of things?

Try Davey Reilly's "Mastermind Yourself" quiz on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa_Q2FXHVQlsNsmLkz5B2sQ

    Hi OP,

meetup.com is a treasure trove of online socialising at the moment. I usually do meetups but I'm not into online socialising myself, it's just not the same for me, so I'll wait til they can get off the ground in the physical world again.

But yeah, as I've said, you'll find most meetup groups now have online meetings, they usually schedule to have chats around a particular subject, like you watch a theatre piece or a movie online and then discuss it with others, and stuff like that. There's all sorts of things, check it out.

OP look specifically for communities based around your interests, even here on boards, you’re likely to get further quicker. The reason places like this exist is because, even for people with loads of friends, for example my friends won’t get really detailed on a niche TV show or something like that.

Going this route means you’re more likely to encounter people who are only dying to connect with someone who they have these interests in common with, which makes reaching out easier because they’ll be more receptive. These days, too, it’s more the norm for these communities to have some direct social element. And if they don’t, perhaps you could get the ball rolling and throw it out there. Remember that there are millions of people like you and they’re all looking for the same kinda thing, so all it is really is finding those and reaching out.
