Cloud breaking up here in Louth and looking at the satellite view we should get warmth and more sunshine to end the day

You’d swear I had a clue! 2 hours later and in truth we got very little, in fact hardly any cloud clearance. There was a gap in cloud cover heading our way but it never really materialized. In truth another disappointment of a summers day. It’s the hope that kills you.
10 or 20 minutes of full sun once or twice a day does not a summers day make.

Finally a weekend that could be spent outdoors.

It was very pleasant day to be out + about. You did need hoodie/ light coat as mostly cloudy but when sun did make an appearance it was beautiful. Thankfully very little wind.

No surprise that playground/ park was packed.

very pleasant evening with plenty of sunshine since about 5pm, easily the most sunshine we've had in about 3 weeks!

Lovely day in West Clare, got up to 18.3°c. Very calm, much more pleasant than yesterday. Mostly sunny too, with some cloudy patches.

Letterkenny pretty much echoed Malin Head, cloud finally broke up in late evening to give some brief blue skies though the sun was already too low to get any sunshine here. Cool and grey all day, still hasn't been a single day this month with more than a few fleeting glimpses of the sun.

And just looking at tonight's GFS, potentially another crap week ahead up here with no shortage of rain forecast :)

Great to see the reservoirs getting replenished. Though we were in for another 2018 catastrophe.

I doubt the reservoirs were doing too bad, if you measure the rainfall over the past 12 months it's been a lot, despite the dry Spring. Aside from March, April and May most months have been wetter than normal.

Another nice morning in D5. Great to have a few nice days in a row after the poor run of weather. Had a bbq yesterday and it was very pleasant weather

Forecast for next week not as good now.... looking at that forecast is a waste of time it will probably say totally the opposite again next time I check...I dont know what is up with the forecasts recently but they are all over the place changing almost every single day:confused:

If you check where Ireland is on the globe maybe you can figure this out :)

After a glorious day in Galway city yesterday, normal service has been resumed.

They should re-name Galway Bay as Warm Front Bay.

Lovely yesterday. But back to normality with a bang today. Grey cloudy skies and quite cool for the time of year. Oh well, nice while it lasted.

That was our weather yesterday up until the late evening at least.
Much the same this morning but expecting the rain in the next few hours.

Cloudy on the west cork coast so far today but still warm and more humid then it was yesterday. About 17 degrees.

Slate grey skies again, going to need vitamin D supplements at this rate.

Maybe it's recency bias but I honestly can't remember the last time we had such a consistently awful spell of weather in mid summer. In the past 15 days the highest temperature we've had here is 16C, there's been rain every single day and barely a hint of sunshine

Apart from some broken sunshine yesterday, which didn't really get going until mid afternoon, it has been extraordinarily dull and overcast for pretty much weeks now. Not much in the way of rain here though, and only light falls when it does. But one thing for sure, that rapid drying during the late Spring and early Summer has not continued. Takes ages for the roads and paths to dry lately, which is something you would only see during the late Autumn and Winter months.

    New Moon

Well I spoke too soon back to great skies again.

Its mad really that delighted with yesterday's weather when in fact there was only 5 hours sunshine + high of 17 degrees.

It just shows you how bad July has been when that was best day yet in Dublin!

    And so another week passes
And the good weather gets pushed back another week

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,088 ✭✭✭pauldry

Next week will be ok but not great

The following week unsettled and wet

After that we are into longer nights starting

Probably will be one of the windiest coolest dullest Summers

    Not exceptional rainwise though

Longer nights starting? In July? Sunset will still be after 9pm. Yes technically the evenings have been closing in since mid June. But come on...

Honestly, the pessimism on here at times 😂

Anyway, 19 degrees and partly cloudy and feeling nice where I am in Dublin.

just back from a walk and it feels surprising very warm despite the lack of sunshine, it is bright here but the sun is not able to make it through the cloud layer. Currently 19C but feels more like 21C or 22C.

If today was sunny low twenties would definitely have been reached here already.
