Only in the door now and I’m still fuming that he had the balls to do that today. Not that we needed further proof but shows once again there’s no editorial control in operation on this show at all - it’s whatever Mr. Duffy wants to cover and his own personal slant on it that gets on air. Today’s show was a disgusting, agenda-driven abuse of power and privilege by a highly compromised (given his relationship with Calorie) and biased host. It that was the BBC he’d be lucky to survive the week either through being sacked or forced to resign.

Mr. Duffy you are a disgrace.
Dee 4bes you are a disgrace.
    RTÉ you are a disgrace.

The first instance I heard about Duffy being a self-interested broadcaster, so to speak, was way way back when he started on the Gay Byrne radio show. At the time he was Gay’s “outside broadcaster”, doing interviews from an outside location whilst Gay was simultaneously in the studio. One early episode was Joe going with RTÉ crew to the scene of an eviction where the bailiffs were removing goods from a house somewhere in the Blanchardstown/Corduff direction. It was all the talk in the staff room where I worked that the person being evicted was a relative of Duffy. It irked a lot of people at the time, and marked him out as biased and self-serving. Of course plenty in similar vein followed over the years, but that one stood out as about the earliest example in his broadcasting career. If I remember rightly Gay was genuinely unaware that there was a connection between Duffy and the evictee.

Today was the first day I’ve actually felt I need to make a formal complaint over the show.

I’ve sent a short but to the point email of complaint to feedback@rte.ie

A couple of old friends welcoming one back into the tent

One man performed fellatio on another live on radio. The recipient also compared himself to JFK.

An all time low today, lads, AND LASSIES.

Whatever about Syl Fox, that Calore thing was a disgrace.

Who allowed it to go ahead?
    What was its purpose?
Did someone hit Calorie with a car or did he run into a tree himself? I missed the start.

Caller driven show. Who called in to hear ivirs story?

Why was there no "debate" or even a one sided discussion afterwards?

Had to laugh at Joe talking about the bravery of Calorie painting over IRA graffiti.

Not all heroes carry buckets of cheap red paint.

Calorie crashed into a fallen tree. No car was involved, but I got the feeling there's a claim being prepared somewhere on this (likely against Cork Co.Co.).

It was also pre-recorded I suspect.

    Today's show was ****ing disgusting.

    Re making complaints:

    complaints@rte.ie

    feedback@rte.ie

The complaints one is for when you think RTE have breached their own guidelines and looks to be more formal, so you need to word your mail carefully.

The Feedback one is for general ranting and venting and will be turfed into the cyberbin.

As I understand it, a formal complaint to the BAI has to be investigated by them.

It hasn't been a caller driven show for many, many years. The dogs in the street know that.

Listened back to the segment with Sil Fox.

Sil Fox: "I've been proven right, that I didn't do anything. "
    Duffy: "Yeah".
Sil Fox: "So i can't understand, all the fellas out there will have to watch themselves now. You can't do anything. This MeToo movement I think that the women have, it's gone a bit too far. "
    Duffy: "Hmmmmm".

"Hmmmmm", is that the best you can do Joe? Too cowardly to say a word against the MeToo movement? Surely there be a national big #MeToo protest against Sil now which will get the full support of the media? The inconsistency of the whole thing disgusts me. I bet there are one or two other falsely accused guys that wish they had a pal in the national broadcaster.

Falsely accused? We had a convicted and jailed fraudster and utterly despicable man who blamed the fraudulent expenses claim on a man who took his own life get 40 or so minutes on the show today to tell us how great he was, aided by Mr. Duffy also telling us how great he was and how fit he is and all the great work he did in the past (incl. no doubt "fixing the road') etc. etc.

    It was utterly disgusting.

I honestly urge every right thinking person on this forum to write a complaint to RTE regarding yesterdays Liveline.

It was a throwback to yesteryear , a time when the ' upper echelons' of society, did as they pleased ,without question.

Joe Duffy and Ivor Callely are delusional.
They seem to think people will believe anything they hear from Mothership Montrose.

    Well we wont.

Fcuk you Duffy. You sycophantic, self serving fraud.
You thrive on misery and rejoice in turning a profit from your sick hobby , tales of death!

You are a freakish ghoul. A professional promoter of misery porn.

Calally is a proven fraud. A rogue. A criminal.

Both of those narcissistic egomaniacs , shoulder rubbing on the radio was nauseating.

It was sickening , and beyond parody.

Ultimately a fish rots from the head down.
    Dee Forbes must go.

If yesterdays show infuriated you, dont let it slide..... PLEASE SEND A COMPLAINT....

For it to be a piss take , RTE would require some self awareness.

It's just an example of how delusional they are in there.

I wonder will there be any mention of this interview in the traditional Irish media?

The guy who reviews radio in the weekend Times edition is always fulsome in his praise of the great Joe Duffy (I suspect they are acquaintances) so don't expect to see any degree of criticism there.

But really a journalist with a bit of balls could go after Duffy because of this interview and really put him under pressure to hold onto his job.

Talk about the "issues" with the second had car business......

    LIES Duffy!

the whole "motor trade" is a massive scam, whoy in the year 2020 can't I buy my car directly from the Renault factory and drive it home? We don't need an army of middlemen creaming it.
