Africa is certainly a very diverse continent, with little in common between many of the peoples. From my limited experience, food is excellent and plentiful most of the time there.

Any Raciest's ringing in for a bit of balance?

I’m so sick of being told I need to be educated. That we “all” need to be educated.

    Honestly. F off.

I think the feeling is its not racism its just regular scumbag, people are pricks behaviour

This would be my feeling on it. Being a different race might be a reason to be attacked but it could be a white irish lad just as easy. Maybe if it was a choice of between a white lad and a black lad to attack for a scumbag they may lean towards the black guy in fairness. But if it was a choice of between 2 white guys they would still attack a white guy so I dont know how you would class the decision to attack one of the white lads? Maybe luck racism?

Scumbags are equal opportunity scumbags. I belive a majority of attacks are because the attacker is a scumbag rather than seeing a person of colour compelling a person to attack them because they are of a different ethnicity.

When I ask someone where they're from I'm not being racist. I'm being nosy, or at best, curious. Doesn't mean I think they are a lesser human being than I am.

Will Ray D'Arcy tell us a sad tale of what Gay Byrne said to him when Ray pointed to the area above his eyes and said "my fur-head"

I am hugely interested in geography and the world in general, I’m an avid traveller, I love to ask people where they are from as a conversation opener, because then it can lead to an excuse to talk about my travel there and how I enjoyed the food etc.

In another life I lived for 4 years in a West African country in the 90s. There was plenty of inter tribal and inter country/region racism and it was serious stuff matter of fact I was almost killed once when I got caught in the middle of a conflict with sticks and knives in a small airport once had to run for our lives

I think Nigeria is regarded as being to Africa as Russia is to Europe.

    Don't worry.

Somebody with a makey-up PHD will be able to tell you how it is a sign of inherent racism probably linked to something they put in Irish drinking water.
