Ryanair are not backing down, you can book loads of routes from the 1st of July. How is Holohan going to deal with this? he will probably wag his finger again.

    List of routes

This is a national scandal. This is a huge problem we now facing and this is very sad for all of those people who are waiting.

So how many people are going to die because of missed screenings? This is madness.

They didnt get it wrong this time pal. You ll realise this in October.

Hahaha! Economists get things wrong ALL the time. Yeah, let's come back to this in October. The economy will, no doubt, have taken a hit but will it be as severe as forecast? No one knows because...y'know...it's a forecast.

Yes. I'd trust Michael O'Leary to have the ordinary person's interest at heart before that evil and uneducated fool that calls himself 'Doctor' Holohan. Never mind those other experts cretinous bastards guiding the government's response. Well done Michael. Honest, independent and informed. A true patriot.

Getting there is one thing but will we be in quarantine when we get back, do they actually visit your home?

Its not mandatory to quarantine for 14 days.

Whats mandatory is to fill out a form where you "expect" to quarantine yourself for 14 days.

Anything else and you'd feel you arrive in North Korea, and while Tony H has high standards for movement restrictions, thankfully courts and EU freedom of movement is above Tony H. (hopefully this wont change)

TBH i struggle to see how 1 could quarantine if theres an obvious need to buy food / breathe fresh air / get some sun vitamin D.

Simon was very upset he couldnt make it mandatory : <

They might visit if they have a suspicion, from follow up phone calls, that you lied on the locator form (which is a criminal offence). But if you are where you say you are, but are just not self isolating, then there is no sanction. So they wouldn’t visit unless they thought you’d lied about where you are staying. I would say there would be phone calls every few days to remind you of your obligation

Then why the full lockdown and scaremongering? I suspect it was because we have such an appalling health service and any other response would have led to it being quickly overwhelmed.

You suspect? There was no secret made of the fact that that was the reason. It was always about 'flattening the curve'.

Scotland are only just having the first easing of restrictions today. Meanwhile in the north, there won't be any face to face lectures in the Ulster University until after Christmas. The first semester will all be done online.

And on a journal article, that's no mean feat. It goes to show that online platforms are considerably out of whack with the man on the street. The actual approval ratings are likely higher than that again, despite the vocal minorities online.

The dangers of listening to the vocal minority:

Two weeks TO THE DAY after lifting the order, Wisconsin sets record for both deaths and new cases. People DEMANDING the place be reopened immediately are in cloud cuckoo land.

Are you saying that the government publicly acknowledged, at any time, that we have an appalling health service? And flattening the curve had nothing to do with an appalling health service. Even a top notch health service would have required flattening the curve.

Good ole Ryanair. They'll probably force this farce to end. Don’t they pay their corporation taxes here? Communication behind the screens no doubt going on

There may be some logic to this if this virus was raging throughout the country but to even consider giving out a statement like that with what we know about this virus now with 89 % recovery rate is an absolute scandal.

    Heads should roll over this.

No, that's not what I'm saying.

Yeah, hence the lockdown. I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.

You said that there was no secret made of the fact that we have an appalling health service. That's not true. The government continually defends the health service and has never conceded that it is appalling.

I fully understand that some people don't have warm feelings towards Michael O'Leary and look that's a very fair way to feel. He isn't an angel and he isn't perfect by any means. I also have some reservations about him.

But it's nice to see someone who is well known and has influence begin to speak out against the government and the shambles they have created.

Let's face it, Michael O'Leary isn't one for backing down and he won't be putting up with Holohan or Simon Harris lecturing him.

O'Leary has a net worth of around €1 billion euro and he has the financial power to call in the big gun lawyers.

We had one booked for July 13th but got Email from Club saying no underage activities until earliest July 20th.

The recovery rate is actually 99%, if you include the many people who were never tested for covid 19.

Most of the screening programs are done outside hospitals. I think the bowel screening one is actually done by post in many cases, in that you submit your own sample.

The risk of catching covid 19 while being screened is minimal and even if you did, you'd be over it in a few weeks, whereas your cancer could last years.

Delays in screening and diagnoses will cost many lives.

Mandatory to fill in the form, the 14 day quarantine isn't mandatory or in legislation

    Absolute disgrace.

"The HSE needs to urgently address Covid-19 restrictions as it is unacceptable a woman in this country can now go buy paint in Woodies but is unable to get a potentially life saving smear test, according to to a father of two who lost his young wife to cervical cancer.

Stephen Teap of Carrigaline, Co Cork whose wife Irene died arising out of deficiencies in Cervical Check, has said health screenings need to be reinstated as soon as is safely possible."

    https://www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/ireland/are-they-working-on-a-plan-cork-widower-wants-clarity-on-cancer-screening-services-1002215.html

The amount of legal cases SCA will have to pay out and settle in the aftermath of all this, easily billions. IMF help will seem inevitable

I would like to see the restrictions lifted faster but you can't really lay the blame at Tony Holohan, he's doing his job as the CMO.
What's the old maxim, "Advisers advise, Ministers Decide".

Simon Harris seems to be taking the lead here, Pascal O'Donoghue and Heather Humphries need to be more vocal. Who knows, maybe behind the scenes they are but the only face / voice we are seeing / hearing is Harris.

Ryanair are perfectly within their rights to get going again. They have put in place measures such as compulsory face coverings. Other businesses rushing to open up can earn their right to when they have adequate measures in place which are policed properly.

Thanks. Is the mandatory to fill in the form bit in legislation anywhere or how does that work?
