hmm. if the guard did trot out the line 'put the word out to cyclists that you don't own the roads' (and we're getting this secondhand, so that may not be actually what was said) he's a bit of a dick. would he say to a motorist 'put the word out to other motorists…'?

I'm actually more irritated than I probably should be by this story, assuming it played out as reported. So little enforcement on our roads and instead they're wasting time trying to make up a case against a cyclist, taking time off actual enforcement. Sums up the petrolhead nature of the States roads policing units.

i will again relate the story of me going down knockmaroon hill at a time the speed limit there was 30mph (this was very early 2000s) at nearly 40mph, and passing a garda with a radar gun at the bottom; who pumped his fist in the air in encouragement as i passed him.

Time to call the conclave again. Everyone has to come this time, including the under-14s.

A friends brother got a ticket coming down the hill behind Nutgrove shopping centre from a fresh recruit out of Templemore. The Super then threw it out but did issue you him with a letter confirming the speed he was recorded doing. It was in MPH so I don't remember specifics but he was very proud

Garda was wrong to tell him that he can't be speeding.
