    Hi folks,

I just logged into the Daft site and went through the process of selling my house. Listing the photos, description etc. and I can't seem to get an option to list a 'virtual tour' on it? For some reason, although they do appear on Daft, like on this page for example:

    https://www.daft.ie/dublin/new-homes-for-sale/brighton-wood-brighton-wood-foxrock-dublin-106028/#virtual-tour

I can't seem to find an option or way of listing it on an ad I'm putting up myself. I have stuck in an embed code, but it doesn't seem to actually work. It just shows the embed code in plain text format. Also, if i link a URL to the tour hosted on another site, the URL isn't 'live' (ie you can't click it, you have to copy/paste it into your browser).

Can anyone tell me if I'm missing something here? I feel a tad confused by this. Virtual tours aren't a new thing, and are only getting more and more popular, so I'm sure there must be an easy way of having one on your daft/myhome etc. listing?

    Cheers folks.

in that link they seem to be using https://matterport.com/. that would probably involve someone coming to your house to take photos with their "special" camera.

For the sake of ease of understanding where I'm coming from, I am a photographer, and I can do a virtual tour.

I'm just having difficulty grasping how to get it listed on Daft. The matterport one just seems to be a random URL-based embed link (just happens to be matterport). But that page (where the tour is hosted) doesnt seem to be a 'normal' for sale page. When I go through the options on Daft to try and sell my house, it doesnt allow me to do anything over than basic pictures (no videos, virtual tour etc) but I'm sure there must be a way to do them?

I have seen estate agents link to Facebook pages or websites where one could view virtual tours of houses (that was well before Covid) and I don't think daft had that functionality then.
If Daft won't let you have a virtual viewing, this might be an option. Not perfect, but needs must!

Doesn't the description say virtual tour available at X time and date .

Which implies it's probably the agent walking around the house live with Facebook or other live video stream service...

I think live streaming is a different thing altogether, to what I'm referring to.

What I'm talking about is the kind of video that features on the page on Daft I linked to. It's like Google Street view where you click from one 360 image to the next, to navigate your way around the house.

Seems like it's just not accepted on Daft yet. Which is very daft (pardon the pun) if they're the premier property website in Ireland, that they haven't got functionality for something like this, which isn't exactly a new thing.

Currently we only accept tours from Matterport but we hope to accept tours from other providers in the future
So, for the time being, you gotta pay Matterport for the privilage.

    Also, read this; https://www.daft.ie/blog/kbc-launches-virtual-reality-experiences-journal-media-daft-ie/

It's from 2017, and was probably seen as a gimmick.

Ah okay. Great find - i haven't seen that page.

No - I wouldn't be paying Matterport for the privilege of using their service (thought it's no wonder they can charge so much - if people are monopolised into using them :().

I'll contact Daft and see have they improved on the functionality at all, or accepted compatibility with any others (CloudPano, 3DVista, etc. there seems to be a few big name tour hosts out there).

Aye, blog post from 2017 :pac:

    Googling Matterport, and found;

    Apple; https://apps.apple.com/us/app/matterport-capture/id701086043
    Android; https://support.matterport.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045232233-Try-Matterport-Capture-on-Android-Beta-

It's possible that if the Daft only has the code for Matterport, this may be an option for you?

I don't use Matterport. It was originally an apple-only thing and although it can look nice, I find them a fairly expensive option in the grand scheme of things.

Looking at the source of the page where the tour is listed on daft, it seems like the tour is simply listed via it's url. So in theory, you would assume that any site/host that gives a direct URL would be able to be displayed on the Daft site..?

Looking for a critique of some tours I created on Kuula 360 platform.

Only starting to do these virtual tours for fun atm and opinions would be welcome.

Here are links for 2 of my projects

Dalyboy, Looks cool. It is not immediately clear how one goes upstairs or sees an upstairs floor plan. That second house looks a dream.

Thanks for having a look and I value your opinion poker addict.
Good tip RE the upstairs issue. I’ve added a hotspot from the 1st internal spherical. The floor plans indicator icon is slightly lacking on the kuula 360 software. It’s on the bottom left of the screen but cannot be increased in size so sometimes it evades people’s notice.

As for the 2nd house. I agree. Amazing quality. It’s a relatives property but I couldn’t gain access to the upstairs as it was a privacy request overreach.

    Thanks again
