Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

BTEA and part-time work?

    Hey all.
Asking on behalf of a friend who doesn't have boards.

He is currently on JA for the summer before returning to Uni in Autumn.

Has taken a part time job that has been offered 2 days a week on a permanent basis should he wish to keep it.

Issue is with him on BTEA and his wife currently part-time too, he is unsure what effect this will have on family's overall welfare support?

Is it possible/allowable to work part-time on BTEA?
And what overall impact would it have on payment and ancillary benefit if in receipt of RA/HAP?

    Thanks for any info.

The income from employment affects BTEA the same way that it affects Jobseekers Allowance (first 20 euro per day is disregarded, 60% of the balance assessed). However, the 3 day rule does not apply, so he is permitted to spread his work over more than 3 days during term time (but not during the holidays when he is on JA).

Rental support depends on which scheme he is on. Rent Supplement allows 75 euro additional income (after BTEA has been reduced), but then deducts 75% of the balance. HAP is a percentage of his income (the amount depends on which council area he lives in), so any additional income increases the HAP contribution, but he will keep the majority of his additional income.

Many thanks for this, it's much appreciated.
Particularly the info regarding the spreading of hrs on BTEA.
