If they are in a shopping centre, the 10th of August

If not in a shopping centre 8th of June

Ask the retailer. Nobody else is going to know what their own plans are.

The should be legally allowed open on June 8th under the small shops specification. They are not obliged to open just because they're allowed.

Officially shops in shopping centres are not meant to open (barely mentioned in the plan as an almost footnote; and of the bit about larger shops that aren't in the other categories at that) but considering the number of shops in shopping centres that are already open this will be unenforceable and/or will be legally challenged.

Consider how many shops will be open in centres from Monday with the addition of opticians, shops like Halfords, electronics stores and probably some more cafes to support the higher footfall.

The allowed categories have to have ‘street level access’ in order to open tomorrow (May 18th). Enclosed shopping centres are not scheduled to be allowed open until Phase 5, currently planned for August.

And I don’t get the ‘cafes to support the higher footfall’ logic, they won’t be allowed open until late June. While we could all sympathise with the owner of a main st. coffee shop that is sandwiched between a Vodafone shop and a branch of Halfords, the fact is that he cannot open on May 18th.

The problem is that nearly every enclosed shopping centre going is already open due to there being internally accessed units that were always allowed open. Blanchardstown is open due to Dunnes (who do have a small side door), M&S and Boots; Stephens Green due to Dunnes, Boots and Holland & Barrett; even my local small one is open due to Dunnes, Hickeys and Holland & Barrett

Those stores on tomorrows list that are inside already open centres are basically all going to open regardless. Would be a quick open and shut legal challenge if they were stopped.

Cafes and food outlets are already allowed sell for takeout. Lots will be opening to do that once there is someone to sell to. Don't expect the Subway etc stores inside centres that are now getting footfall to stay closed; considering they were never required to anyway.
