    Burning rubbish is illegal.
    99% of people aren’t capable of a civil conversation about this sort of stuff especially if they are being called out on dodgy stuff.

    Make a call to the council and report him for burning rubbish. The council officers are paid and trained to deal with this and they don’t live over the wall.

    If you get into a thing then surely as soon as you light a BBQ they will be on to the council complaining about you.

    I wouldn't confront them just report it. They won't know who reported them. Likelyhood is if it's annoying you it's annoying other neighbours.
