Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sky broadband in North Dublin and Meath outage query

There was a large outage in North Dublin and Meath over the weekend, and it was supposedly caused by a large fire in a scrap yard in North Dublin.

For the life of me, I can't see how a fire could take out a broadband network, unless there were problems with an above ground microwave link that was affected by the density of the smoke cloud, which seems somewhat far fetched, in that my understanding of the network is that it's underground fibre to the local exchange, in our case Ashbourne, and to the local cabinets, and then copper for the last section.

There's been a deafening silence from Sky about what actually happened, so is there anyone here on Boards that does know the real story?

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

I don't know the particular story but its not actually a Sky issue, its BT. Sky have no kit of their own.

This is probably what you're referring to. If you look on the M50 slip just south of Northside Test Center there are some street cabs that could be TII/NTA or could be telco gear. The nearest "serious" infrastructure is Clonshaugh business park.
