No cans in the house, but you're allowed up to 4 in after the living room closes.

Have a capri sun down my cacks waiting for the woman to go to bed.

Late Late to 'mark the absence' of Electric Picnic
    https://www.rte.ie/entertainment/2020/0901/1162475-late-late-to-mark-the-absence-of-electric-picnic/

Audience full of 18 year olds chewing their jaws off, at some point some one pisses on Ryan Turgidy.

it then rains in the studio

Would've been loading the boot around now and checking the tickets are packed for the umteenth time. Setting off around 11 ish to be parked and in the queue in good time for gates opening at 4.

God I really, really hope it happens next year.

Would be doing the same now, start packing the carts and straight into the back of the car so we could just whip them out later, then onto a cafe for our usual last meal on a plate and with proper cutlery

    Good times.

I must have some EP muscle memory triggering today, because as per every Thursday before EP, I cannot get a tap done at work!!

Ah, the melty days of the pre-Newry Bypass and pre-M50.
45 mins trying to get through Newry then getting lost in Clondalkin in a wee Ford Ka.

This year would be the first Thursday night as I convinced herself it was a good idea.

Instead, I am now going to be working a night shift.

I might set a tent up under the desk. TBH, I've done worse when I'm in a real messing mood.

    No beer though. :(

The Thursday start is great if you like the first day buzz and anticipation. We get to leave the house at a reasonable hour and the first can cracked by tea time. Just sitting around the tent, chats with camping neighbours, soaking up the atmosphere with no rush to be anywhere.

The only downside is if you tire easily like me you've an extra day hungover/sleeping on the ground under your belt before the young'ins have even put their first pair of glow in the dark eyelashes on.

This day should be like Christmas Eve for me, would be just hitting the road to stay in a hotel in portlaoise to get a nice handy short run into pink moon tomorrow morning. I should be getting myself hyped up to see Rage tomorrow. It will be a sad weekend.....

Planning a few cans in a friends garden tomorrow with a gazebo and tents, been five times since 2009 and I thought it was only getting better the older we all got. (Even toughed out Hendirx until 2018 and the grand old age of 28!) Sickened.

Jeez, mind the 6am starts on the Friday morning just to get to the gates for a reasonable queue size! Worse for the Derry girls, before they all got married aff.

    It’s actually painful!!!

I’m trying to be positive so I’ve come up with this

I’m incredible lucky that I have ep to go to every year with my best friends and it’s the highlight every year where as we get older we love it more and more , this would have been my 12th I think ...

So that’s it...lucky to feel so heartbroken this week that we can’t be there. Lot of people don’t have that

We will be there again guys. Just really ducking hope it’s next year.

This doesnt feel like Picnic eve anymore :( I should be packed and giddy for the weekend of antics at this stage but no im in me bed watching TV ha.

I now regret not going last year to get my picnic fix.

I wonder will we get some sort of line up announcement for next year in the coming weeks (similar to Reading/Leeds)

Ninth for me, Scruff. Be strong, Boardsies. I expect an epic meet up at the Salty Dog in 12 months time. I will raise an emotional can to you all tomorrow evening.

If it's similar to L&R they can keep it.

Was reaching double figures this year.
There'll be some shouting and roaring done next year.

Ninth for me too, just missed out on 2016..

Didn't have many gigs lined up for this year due to buying a house but was really looking forward to picnic :(

Will raise a glass tonight in memory

    Cheers you lovely people :)

In work and going through the tortures of the damned looking at old Clashfinders and trying to work out who I would have been heading to see on any given opening Friday. Masochist....

I'm heading over to a mate's house tomorrow for a bag of cans and some tunes. It's no EP, but what can you do.

I have to say that I'm really missing it at the moment. It's been a pig of a year and it is my annual blow out.

The more i think of it, and the more I look at pics, it isn't so much a music festival, it's more of a pilgrimage.

It would have been my 8th Picnic this year. I mirrored the preparation by going back through all the years and making a playlist of my best acts from all the picnics; currently at 78 hours. That should do me nicely for the weekend.
Took the recipe from the Electric Picnic website, so there will be cheesy bread for lunch tomorrow.

If anyone remotely gives out bout the line up when we get back to ep, I’m reporting and blocking them

Ha very true, tbh i remember thinking 2018 was a meh line up and we said this will def be our last year but had the best year because of that, the only reason i couldnt go was because of lack of money when tickets went on sale.

Also King Kong Company pretty much announced they would have been on the Main Stage tonight :(

Would have been my 16th in a row but given the circumstances of the year I can deal with it. Not having a Picnic next September would be far more painful.
