Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Vic
We had a surprise winner in the best sitcom character with Ron swanson so let's continue that trend and get another brilliant character to win best drama character

Nominated them both, going with Vic, what a guy, you rarely realize he is 4 foot 8.

Vic - because the shield was very good and I have not watched Dunbar's show

Vic Mackey, because quickbeam has pretty much been voting against me the entire game, so now the turntables have turned...

Going with Vic, a genuinely brilliant once in a lifetime character.

Ted should have lost to Omar

Ted, come on the Irish and we lost Mal to Vic

Ted because he was great at stopping bent coppers

Vic Mackey takes down Ted Hastings as the miracle run is over. 9-3 the scoreline

    Your Final Four...

    John Locke (LOST)
    Tony Soprano - The Sopranos
    Walter White (Breaking Bad)
    Vic Mackey - The Shield

    Semi-Finals going up very shortly.

Slight change to the format here, which will be posted in the match-up posting.... the time limit for the matches is being extended to 1 hour.

    Semi Finals:

Time limit of an hour, both will run simultaenously.

In the event of a tie we will have a 15 minute period of overtime to break this tie. If tied after overtime, I will cast the deciding vote

    Match 1

    John Locke (LOST)

    220px-LockeLost.jpg

    VS

    Vic Mackey - The Shield

    340?cb=20090916021428

    Match 2

    Tony Soprano - The Sopranos

    gandolfini2.jpg?width=1000&height=614&fit=bounds&format=pjpg&auto=webp&quality=70&crop=16:9,offset-y0.5

    VS

    Walter White (Breaking Bad)

    220px-Walter_White2.jpg

Most votes cast within an hour will see the winning characters progress to the Final. In the event of a tie, see above the match postings...

Votes cast after 21.39 will not count, you will need to recast the vote in the event of overtime (AFTER it is announced) All players can revote in the event of overtime

Vic Mack - for Sarah Michelle Gellar

    Tony Soprano - superior character

Vic - He's who I aspire to be

Tony - the best of the best in the best

Vic coz he has that look!

Tony coz he is the man!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 87,604 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

I'm going with Vic and Walter for the final, honestly I have no real valid or interesting reasons but I hated the ending to Lost and Don't Stop Believing was way over played

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

John Locke - he had some of the show's most iconic moments, especially in the early seasons.

Tony Soprano aka. The Originial Gangster. Were it not for the success of Tony Soprano as a likeable bad guy in the lead role, Breaking Bad and Walter White wouldn't even have existed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 833 ✭✭✭blackwave

Vic Mackey he stole the show and made for compelling character!

Tony Soprano he was the show, very layered character.

Vic, John Locke has gone way further than he ought to. Vic is an amazing character, such a twinkle in his eye.

Tony, there is no way Heisenberg would have gotten that far on his watch, he would have taken the chancer down before he hit his stride.

Vic and Walter for my votes, two great characters, both played by amazing actors. Very different journeys, but both ended well in terms of finishing off the show.

Incase I miss the final Vic would get my vote, (Know this won’t count, I’ll try make it). The Shield is a tv experience, epic writing, acting and characters all centered around Vic. Vic for the win!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,712 ✭✭✭Sawduck

    Vic
Best of the bald lads, plus more of a badass, delighted he is so close to the final

    Tony
Best of the gangster lads, plus he had loyalty to his crew, whereas Walter often screwed over Jesse

  • Registered Users Posts: 19 Aoife2017

Vic Mackey & Walter White because the character in the finale episode was so far removed from the one we met at the start. Loved the both men storylines.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 227 ✭✭thelostboys23

Vic Mackey - he would have been fine if he had never gone after the money train.

Tony Soprano - the original o.g. and every show aspires to be like it since.

John Locke and Walter White - both class characters in their respective series.

(and at least this time I'm 50% agreeing with ASLB so he'll only be half pissed with me #nemisis)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,553 ✭✭✭Blue_Dabadee

I gotta go with Tony without him there would be no Walter White/Heisenberg even though he did not have the makings of a varsity athlete.

No still fully pissed. I don't really care too much about SF1, would be happy to see either progress, but Tony Soprano ought to be in that final 100%

Vic Mackey - One of the original badasses on TV
Tony Soprano - If it came to a straightener I reckon WW would sh1ght it

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

    I tried.

Half tempted to change my vote from Locke to Vic as I'm watching the very first episode of The Shield right now as we speak, for the very first time, and I can already tell I'm gonna prefer him...

Necro, is a vote change allowed, or have I already made my bed?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,215 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

If overtime were to happen you could, but nah I'm gonna stick with original vote so it doesn't get messy for me counting.

    Fair enough

John Locke more likable character. Less of a d1ck.

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,026 ✭✭✭duffman13

Vic Mackey and Walter White. As mentioned previously, both characeters changed hugely over the course of both shows. Walter White i think is better than Tony though Tony will probably romp this

    Also vote Walter White

    Great character

    Great acting

    Really helped Netflix gain popularity.

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

Vic as he was such a special character. Never seen Lost.

Tony as he was the best character on the best show.

Can Tadgh O'Direan (character from ros na run) be put on a list?

    Vic Mackey.
    Tony Soprano.
Both very similar characters, you are rooting for them even though they do some really bad things from time to time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,943 ✭✭✭✭the purple tin

I just realised we have four baldies running.
No matter who wins it's a victory for the bald brothers

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,215 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

    10 mins left to run....

  • Registered Users Posts: 707 ✭✭✭al87987

Vic Mackey for reasons mentioned before.

The other matchup is between the two most overrated characters in tv history imo. Not a particularly hot take but people love their gangsters bosses i suppose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,942 ✭✭✭✭ShaneU

John Locke because his character was so mysterious

Walter White - great story arc

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,215 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

No overtime needed in either match

Vic Mackey utterly dominates John Locke with a 15-4 victory.

The second match is closer, but Tony's early start keeps him ahead and he defeats Walter White 12-7.

Final will be posted shortly and will run until 12 mid day tomorrow.
