Sorry for your loss. Easiest would be his phone or tablet or a laptop with the account logged in.
After that he would have to have setup recovery email addresses.

You should be aware there's no guarantee Google will give this access. They could decide he wanted it kept private.

Before contacting Google, there's a chance there's a phone/tablet/computer that is still logged in so can you access the devices he would have used and go to gmail and see if you can access it? Is he logged into Chrome using his own account (click the button in the top right corner to check).

If you don't know his password and his phone number is still active go through the reset password process and get it to text the code to reset the password to his sim.

Their policy is to not do so unless there is a will stating as such. All they will do is offered to delete the account on submission of a death certificate.

Personally I would think in most cases it is best just to not go looking for logins. I've read of at least one case of cheating discovered and more of porn accounts or logins for escourt websites. I read online about one case of trying to get back bitcoin credentials too though.

In my situation it would be the photos, that's what would be wanted. I've setup recovery for that purpose.

    This worked. Thanks
