I said this from the start. The whole protesting has done nothing but set back the black community, and damage their name...

And people don't care if whites or browns or any other colors "also" caused trouble; the BLM made this issue about them..

People are going to naturally focus on black people here. Black people protesting, black people looting, black people rioting, black people destroying..

This is what the main focus is on really..

The mob violence reaction has done nothing but damage the black community

They had their chance to protest with class and dignity and care and compassion and passion and rightfulness; they failed to do it.

And people won't remember all the "peaceful" protesters here, and rightly so...

if they damaged their name with you they didnt have far to fall, did they?

I guess so. I was going to add that they damaged their name even more....and not, not just me (don't be silly)......damaged their name with people...

Because there are many examples of it happening before....

BLM made this about race.....they are pushing the color angle here...

A lot of Americans don't vote, or care. They just live, who runs the country doesn't effect them one way or the other. A huge percent of Black Americans aren't even registered to vote. America could be like South Africa, if the Black population voted. South Africa hasn't had a white president since Mandela, South Africans cherish their vote as they worked so hard to get it.

A large part of that is due to voter suppression.

    They did. Many, many times.

Nope. A well-studied fact that you don't like.

    No, it is not...

Nobody is legally and lawfully stopping any black person from exercising their vote....if they are legally entitled to vote, they can votes. Exact same conditions for any color.

I’ll just assume you have never actually processed the amount of voter suppression that happens in the United States.

Tell us now how the big bad white man is stopping the blacks from voting this should be good

There's a trend here anything negative for black people always seems to be someone else's fault.

Peaceful protesters lose their right to protest because of the rioters/looters..

Cop kills man, let's talk about George Floyd's past as to apportion blame on a dead man.

Just some of your blame posts

A huge percentage of black people live in poverty. Do you want to vote? OK its a weekday, you have to miss work. Most black people can't afford to miss work.

Want to miss work and miss your desperately needed pay and vote? OK need ID, you need to go to a DMV and miss another days work to apply for your license.

Miss a days work to vote, miss a days work to get a license and want to know the day to vote? Uh oh its a Robocall in a black neighbourhood informing its residents that the voting centre has moved, the time slots changed etc.

Somehow you miss a days work to vote, a days work to get a licence, ignore a robocall and make your way to the voting station? Well former felons can't vote and in a racist justice system that wipes out over 25% of the black vote.

You look it up and show us how voter suppression is somehow targeting black people...

Does it target people, or black people? Does it target a specific color, or does it juts target people?

    Thanks for all this

But what has it got to do with the U.S. targeting black people?

It reads to me like a list of excuses and blame...

Seriously, some of you guys don't even realize that the peddling of this is actually insulting to black people

Black people don't crave your concern and pity....it's such a patronizing way to speak about the "plight" of the poor black person..

It targets "insert minority here" or whatever's relevant to what ever debate being had. It mainly in recent times targetted mainly Hispanic s but... It's need for the black cause so now they are the current victims

    + 1

So, really, to be fair....it is targeting poverty.....?!

Not black people....it targets ALL people who live in poverty?

Jaysus, how in god's name can any society function with all this passing the buck and blame...

Prove they're not, it's true unless you prove they're not

The assumption is that people's votes are being supressed, but Americans have such a low turn out for their elections in general. So even if any supposed obstacles were removed they may not bother turning up anyway.

    This takes the cake....

    Couldn't make it up

The white people are stopping the black people voting.....this is fact, according to you.

And white people, or people, need to prove that it is not fact? My goodness.

They may turn up, best way to deal with it is too not allow them to turn up.

Though our elections are even more of a shambles than in the States. What happened to the parties that we elected in February of this year? Leo and his bastard cabinet are still in. How is that democratic?

They are "still in" because they are the caretaker government until another is formed, its called democracy and works great!

Hahaha yeah ok, lets keep talking about one incident in Cork instead of the actual topic. Distraction indeed.

Wasn't it in Limerick? That's what the claim was when it was initially posted a few days ago at least. As best I know not much info has really been given beyond conflicting reports fo where it happened.

getting a drivers license is a once off occurrence so you're not losing a day at every election
why not take a half day from work if the polling hours do not suit?
they all have smart phones so why not keep up to date on the election locations?
if you're a felon and lost your right to vote, that's on you. nobody else. if them's the rules, it applies to everyone not just black americans.

if you are so concerned and caught up about the loss of your rights as many of these protesters are, skipping a half day's work (if absolutely necessary) to vote to help change the system should be the least of your concern.

Where I live they do early voting and it helps avoid the crowds, normally takes about 10 minutes and most stations open until well into the evening. Not sure if it's like that across all the states though.
