It's absolutely horrific. And it looks terrible. But I do find it hard to fathom or even begin to believe that America is racist.

(That is not to say I don't believe racism exists, but as a whole it certainly is not a country I would class as racist)

I'm going to bed now but to claify my position:

Saying America is a racist country because of the bad actions of a few is no different to equating all Muslims to terrorists or priests are all kiddy fiddlers.

I hope that the policeman who killed that man sees justice.

The racist violence really only applies to native black Americans; the immigrants going to the United States are people from Latin America or Asia who aren't really harmed by racist violence. This is one problem I have with leftists who don't distinguish between xenophobia and racism against black Americans.

Would not say that the USA as a whole country is racist. Of course it is not. The white folk out protesting this cold blooded murder is a testament to that. However it cant be denied that huge racial undertones exist in that society. And having trump in the oval office and playing up to his support base, its a complete powerderkeg. I have lived in the US for a time and Chicago is my favourite city, love the place.

The issue with Sweden, France, and Germany isn't race, but the fact that too many poor uneducated immigrants have come into the countries who don't know of any other culture but their own and are slow to pick up on the dominant culture, and too little pressure in the countries to try to have the immigrants assimilate into the culture because multiculturalism.

Except most black Americans aren't immigrants in the way that every other American ethnicity is. They didn't immigrate to the US, they were forcibly sent there to work in the plantations as slaves, they've have been in the British colonies/United States for 400 years, longer than most Americans can trace their ancestry back. And up until the 1960s there are state sanctioned laws and a perverse culture in certain parts of the United States (especially in the American South) to treat black people very poorly, and even now that culture still somewhat exists. Every other race and ethnicity that came into America did not have to face institutional slavery and Jim Crow laws and lynchings.

A shooting every weekend in Chicago doesn't make it look worse than Baghdad at the height of the War, it makes black Chicago look like Northern Ireland during the Troubles. Black Americans aren't bombing Chicago or mass killing with drones, rocket launchers, and molotov grenades. It is only that some black Americans are shooting other black Americans with pistols. Most black Americans try to go about their lives peacefully. But that's a problem for poor people in poor places in general, about a century ago it would have been Al Capone vs the Irish Mob fighting over Chicago, before the Irish and Italians became more prosperous and moved out of Chicago into the suburbs. And even then the vast majority of Irish and Italian immigrants in Chicago weren't involved in the Mob or in the Mafia.

With all the incentives to get ahead [affirmative action, Black only scholarships,etc] if they can't ahead and make something of themselves now, slavery hasn't anything to do with it. Immigrants from other parts of the world with only a few dollars in their pockets and managed to build businesses and become successful. If they want start getting on in life they need to put the "but slavery" bit to rest.
