Are you being sarcastic? So you are condoning and endorsing violence as a means to achieve equal rights?

Would you extend that to, for example, the victims of Islamic terror attacks in Europe? Was violence the answer to that particular problem?

Thank you that was my next thought:

How many people in the US and Europe naysaid the rioters in the Arab Spring? From what I recall nobody framed it as “feral animal property damage” etc. - they framed it as the Arab ****ing Spring.

Now watch this your blood will boil.

Funny people criticising Trump is funny.

There is literally nothing the man could say or do right now that would make these people happy. Even if he resigned he would still be cursed to the heavens for being 'wayciss'.

The only thing he could do in fact would be to resign and you’re right it would still take a day. That’s who he wanted to be though, an agent of chaos.

If only they could focus their energy on productive enterprises like the latter instead of allowing provocateurs to divide them up along racial lines.

I feel nostalgic for the early 2000s when it seemed to me that we had mostly achieved equality and tolerance.

Take off the rose tinted glasses and you will recall that in fact no the early 2000s were rife with Islamaphobia. People were detained without rights. The United States made suspensions of habeus corpus. Hate crimes occurred with marked regularity. LGBTQ were still closeted. Only white men held the highest positions of authority.

I think the refined sentiment here is a feeling that social progress on equality feels like it’s fallen 20 years backward.

However, I even disagree with that. The LGBTQ have made incredible progress in that time, despite strong opposition from politicians and lawmakers. In the early 2000s, most of this community was still in hiding, watching how their society still vilified others.

Updated news that this guy has survived and is in hospital. Thank God.

It looked awful, I just hope he hasn't suffered significant brain injuries, because there's lots of people living and doing well but also lots who are barely existing post brain injury.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Head of the police union in Minneapolis seems like a reasonable fellow..

On the contrary most demonstrators and journalists are wearing masks.

With Antifa ruining BLM's protests , maybe BLM have a point about white people?

Because this happens all the time in America. Protectors vent their anger and then that's it. Police get tougher and arrest people and the protests ends. The media cycle moves onto a new topic, usually ridiculous if it's America. Some latest Trump tweet.

OK just watching the news reports this morning. I think your overly optimistic that this will be over tomorrow. The focus of anger is turning towards Trump as evidenced by marching towards his towers. And as long as Trump is divisive its not going away.

He doesn't have the mental capacity to resolve this quickly.

See how subjective social justice is? There is never an end to it. How will we ever know when justice is done?

I am always suspicious of selected cuts of video like that. Would love to see the whole context of those.

On the face of it that looks like overly aggressive policing. But i think police generally use force as a last resort if all other means have failed.

Whether you think some of the white people rioting are anarchists or fascists , most would agree they have done terrible harm to what was initially a peaceful and obviously justified protest.

The communities they have ruined and those people will now feel the full brunt of police clampdowns. Its fine though for many of these white anarchists or fascists, they will go back to their own communities and tell anyone who will listen they had a great time looting without a care in the world.

Guy beaten with a skateboard and effectively stoned to death with medium sized rocks in Dallas tonight for trying to protect his store from rioters. Awful scene. Looked like anarchist/Antifa type group.

The celebrities and media cheerleaders who fanned these flames of rioting need to be held accountable.

Early police statements here have said that he wasn't a store owner and was just a resident who decided to go out protecting his area with a machete/sword. The full video available shows the youths were throwing rocks (who knows who provoked who first), he Then chased one of them with the sword and then the mob swarmed him and kicked and beat him. He got hit with a rock in the head then the skateboard and looks unconscious at that point only to be continually kicked and beaten.

I agree. 40M Americans lost their jobs Re:Covid.

The saga is far from over.

There’s so much going on now it will be impossible to adjudicate every single microcosm in the riots. It would take months to nitpick, what is now literally millions of hours of crowdsourced footage. I don’t think that figure is an exaggeration. I think it would be conservative. Reconstructing and dissecting the riots will be a literal science.

    The Guardian doing their bit

"Violence is the only answer left"

    Screen-Shot-2020-05-31-at-00-38-44.png

    That is a shocking headline....

In a week where the BBC had a major embarrassment (Emily Maitlis) and now The Guardian are advocating for violence....it is no wonder #scummedia was trending in Britain.

We are witnessing an industry up in flames!!!!

These riots have nothing to do with George Floyd or those 4 officers who killed him. Can't believe only one of the officers has been arrested so far.

There isn’t a jury in the country that could give Chauvin a fair trial, I fear.

    This might be the straw.

I think he is cheerleading for everything else they do, not just that. Driving into protesters is quite a small part of their work.

I’m thankful for the frontline pacifists. Saw several trying in front of the White House last night.
