People are getting killed in America by police and in riots, and this is what's annoying you? A twitterer complaining about journalism in Ireland?

All deflection tactics, its been evidenced across this thread and the Ahmoud Arbery one (and loads of others im sure) . Broaden the discussion as much as possible and bury the stuff you dont like. In this case the treatment of minorities in America by getting as much as possible on to the thread about black peoples crime in general , trying to focus conversations on anything the individual that was killed might have done in the past etc.

How is it wrong? Go ahead and explain.

What has his past got to do with them killing him (ill say them, because 2 others were on him t, at least for a time, holding the rest of his body)
Character testimony and previous run-ins with the law are a huge part of court cases in the US. Have a look at some videos of OJ's case.

He was a wanted felon therefore they could argue brute force was warranted to restrain him.

I'm not defending the cop's actions but this guy was no saint.

This kind of ****e does absolutely nothing to ease tensions and I'd say that people like this are willingly trying to escalate things for whatever their own reasons are. Tweets like this are in bad faith.

Diplomacy and discussion is what's needed to quell the current situation, but it seems that most people just dig in to their viewpoint even harder. I suspect while much will be lost, those who are actively provoking tensions from the sideline have something great to gain.

someone made an interesting comment on a journal article comparing the HK protests/riots with the current protests/riots in the US. Trump even signed a billed supporting the HK protesters. These protests in HK started out peaceful and then escalated. People even flew into HK to support the protesters. so im just wondering what the difference is? the violence is awful of course and i'm not advocating for it by any means - i'm trying to understand what is the difference? is it because in HK it was about proposed unjust laws. But surely the unjust enforcement of laws is on the same sphere. why is it ok in some cases and not others? who decides if its ok? if leadership supported it then would the masses be like this is ok then. just wondering what the thoughts are on that.

There could be a small civil war coming and it seems many on both sides wants it.

That read like your keyboard just got an awful beating.

Again, remove all your emotional energy and read my reply. It will not help the Black Lives Matter campaign using him as a poster boy. Porn is an abusive industry which is very damaging to women, he was a part of it. That’s just the way it is, no matter how much you would prefer to deflect and say it doesn’t matter, it does, it is not good for his role in the campaign of Black Lives Matter which has seen a massive resurgence in the last week.

What was his role in the BLM group before he was killed?

Does that fact you have dredged up somehow make his life worth less?

I struggle to see what other point you could be trying to make by bringing this up. It’s 2020, whether you like it or not pornography is a legitimate huge industry in America.

Your post comes across as a sad attempt to devalue the mans life.

There's a black guy on Al Jazeera now saying trump has been a great champion of black communities..

What's your point exactly? Trump has plenty of black supporters.

I don't think there is much logic to what's going on. A noble cause has been infriltated by anarchists.

There are many sides as America has multiple fractured divisions and Trump only pours petrol in the fire.

All this with high unemployment in the midst of a pandemic is a perfect cocktail for mass disturbances.

Ah, the qualifier sentence that theyve all thrown in.

The courts system is irrelevant to kneeling on someone neck for 10 minutes and killing them.
The police are there to do police stuff, not decide that justice needs to be doled out on the streets by brutalising people.

He didn't display violent behaviour. He was handcuffed so he was in a way weaker position which works against them from the get go. This wouldn't be a good justification for kneeling on his neck for 9 minutes during which he said he couldn't breathe. After 6 minutes he wasn't even conscious. So it would be almighty disgrace if their isn't a criminal conviction for this.

No point really, but the only black guest of three guests was saying he was doing ok..two white guests were going on about 400 years of oppression of black people..

Seriously. We are going with the no saint/ no angel defence. Again.

When I see a video of a shop owner defending his businees being kicked within an inch of his life, I tend to see the need for restraining at all costs.

    Give respect, get respect.

I am checking out of this thread.

My last point how many of these filthy scummy rioters have done anything to help the family of the dead man?

Bad cops do something bad go out attack innocent white people loot and burn it seems like racism is far more prevalent among the black community.

Are some of you being deliberately obtuse here?

You do know his defense will use everything and anything to get an acquittal?

They will dig everywhere to try and discredit the life of George Floyd.

Whether one thinks they deserve punishment or not is irrelevant. What is relevant is what happens in the trial..

I hope, from what I know that they are punished...

But I will not at all be surprised if they either are not punished, or receive a lenient conviction-punishment.

You believe that propensity to break the law is somehow related to ethnicity?

You believe that most of the minorities in prison are wrongful convictions?

I guess this guy must have done something off camera to deserve this.

    Thats the only explanation.

Your literally just throwing random things in now.

The guy didnt even try to run away after the fake note / cheque issue in the shop. The owner said he was standing outside for several minutes before the cops showed up.
He was handcuffed and on the ground with 3 cops on him. A fourth cop standing beside them.

There is no justification, none. Regardless of what you post and then stick a "but" after .

Spot on. Just because the guy is dead does not mean his character will not be questoned in a court room. Some people can't seem to grasp this.

The bow and arrow dude did bring it on himself but the video of the couple being attacked outside their shop is absolutely disgusting, you can't justify that.

That was the worst I've seen so far based on that clip, just hit my heart more than any of the rest of the clips, maybe because it was isolated and away from the mass gatherings I dunno but for the husband to see his wife getting attacked by armed thugs and unable to do anything was so sad to see.

And once again, this is not related to how George Floyd died. I'm happy to see scenarios like the above prosecuted. But I also think that it's pretty reasonable that there are protests as a result of what happened to George Floyd.

Whether he was a Saint or not simply doesn't matter given the circumstances.

Yes. What's happening in America is of no particular concern to me whatsoever.

Yeah, just seeing mob violence like this is scary..

The court is irrelevant. You chimed in and quoted my post talking about the police killing the guy and decided the courts somehow matter and that was a reason it happened. Bringing up his past as some sort of mitigation reason for the cop doing what he did.

What has the court system got to do with the interaction between Floyd and he police that resulted in his death, other than it never got to court because they killed him?

Protests? These are riots, looting and violence. Just because a few people hold up banners doesn't absolve them law enforcement nor should it.

It does matter whether he was a saint or not. He was a wanted felon, no judge or jury will ignore this.
