    Hi,
I want to build a gaming pc for my son (I havent built a pc in a long time)
so any advice would be great as I am way out of the loop on modern stuff.

    1. What is your budget? 1000-1200 or so...

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming/Video editing/3D Modelling/HTPC/Internet] gaming, video editing, mainly will be used for gaming, gta, fortnite, csgo, cod etc.
Wants to play at best fps (100+)

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [Hard drive/DVD Drive/Case/PSU/etc.] (If possible state brand and model of the parts to ensure compatibility) no

    5. Do you need a monitor? [Yes/No] no

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers/etc.] card reader, wireless card

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Yes/No] no

    8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser] any

    9. When are you purchasing? [In x days] 90 days or so

    Thanks in advance.

Lots of hardware will get released in the next 3 months.
It's also impossible to say what the supply-side situation will be like (e.g. manufacturing/shipping delays out of China, BREXIT, etc.).

Take a look at Logical Increments but do come back closer to buying date.

    thanks for reply.
Son is just anxious to get an idea what he needs and how much it will work out.
    I will return.
    Thanks again..

€900-1000 is a good baseline & will get a great machine.

Contrary to Logical Increments, I'd spend less on the motherboard & 16 Gb RAM and a bigger SSD.
By the time you're going to buy, B550 motherboards should have launched & will be the default recommendation (over B450/X470/X570).
