Its not just the player, I think the manager can make the player better.

Klopp could do something with Pepe.

with our team, Klopp would be leaving him on the bench :D

Maybe, but I see something in Pepe.

Why are Liverpool fans always going on about Pepe? :D

He had a decent first season, hopefully more to come.

Because he was the first to skin VVD.

I think you're conflating excitement with attacking skill. They scored more goals the season after he left in the league even without the attacking maestro. I watched a lot of Liverpool for whatever reason in the period after he left and they were much better. Obviously Van Dijk joined but it was just so much more like a Klopp team.

It was obviously more exciting winning 3-2 over 2 or 3 nil but that does not mean that the team were any worse at attacking. They were eeking out wins rather than getting disappointing draws and that points to them taking their chances at a much better rate which I think maps well in a few of the variants of xG stats.

He left mid-season, at the very start of January. Liverpool scored 84 goals in the league that year. 50 were before he left, 34 were after.
23 goals in 6 games in the CL Group stages.

Those few months the 'fab four' were together are the best attack Liverpool have had under Klopp. As I said, it's more balanced now, with plenty of great forward play, but a much more solid defence. But those few months after Salah came in, and before Coutinho left, were unbelievable. As an attacking unit they were breathtaking.

Sell him back to Arsenal for a profit.

I'm not going to lie, I forgot about Arsenal's Pepe and assumed the discussion was about Klopp being able to do something with the Porto (former Real Madrid) centre half Pepe!

Arsenal's Pepe made a very little impression on me this season

If Arsenal can keep their front players they have decent side. Willian is good purchase.

Still need few at CM and CB

I wonder are Barcelona as bad as Frank Lampards Chelsea or are Frank Lampards Chelsea as good as Barcelona?

    That's some result...

Frank won’t feel too bad after that anyway

Something happening at Arsenal by the looks of it. Rumors of Raul involved in shady dealings over the last 12 months.

Aren't they conducting a full investigation into the Pepe transfer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,398 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

I know they clearly overpaid for Pepe but that was a quick investigation.

    Yep I think so.

KDB a worthy winner and right now the only thing at City that is reliable (in a good way)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,370 ✭✭✭✭8-10

Yep no complaints about that, he's playing at an incredibly high level every game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,005 ✭✭✭ebbsy

Exactly what hole did he dig City out of this year ?

Liverpool player should have won that. Its a disgrace.

Why? Because they won the league? The fact you just state Liverpool player and not a particular one lol.

It's an individual award. Not a team award. Doesn't have to go to one of the winners.

Just realised it's not the PFA award. How many of these things are there?

It could have been any one of 5 or 6 bud

Think of it as a consolation for KDB :)

So you think Individual KDB had the 6th or 7th best season behind all these Liverpool players?

Equaling a 20 assist record season and scoring 13 goals and not to mention all the work and key passes he does.

Personally think he strongly deserved it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,409 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

He deserves it and forms a nice double with the league cup for them this year.

So Mo Salah and his 32 league goals in 17/18 or Virgil Van Dijk last season winning player of the season are a disgrace? Don’t think many would agree with you

Fully deserved for KDB, been the most consistent player over the season. Arguably could have had it ast season as well but Virg had a big season. I know last year he complained that they won the league and he did not get it, I am sure that this year there will be no such similar complaints from him.

Pep already said this year it's a Liverpool trophy because of the previous 2 years :pac:

    Nope.

    KDB the correct choice.

Salah won when City mauled the League, so it happens.

Can't say that KDB did not deserve to win that award. Another outstanding League campaign from him.

When is the PFA award winner announced?

He absolutely deserved it. You would need blinkers on not to see how much he deserved it.

not as close & as easy a decision as the YPOTY but KDB fully deserving of this award imo & fair play to him.

It's sad to think that given the season City have had this will likely only act as a consolation prize for him, such a talent.

I'm sorry but this man deserves better. What that interview says to me is "I'm trapped, I feel like a prisoner, please come & save me, I'm sick of this sh1t & just want to be free again".

This man in a Bayern or Liverpool team under a decent manager would be the stuff of dreams.

What he has won with City not incredible enough ?

The best players want to win the CL. I can guarantee players would trade all their Carling & FA Cup medals to have gotten just one CL medal.

Players want to win the big competitions with their clubs and for English based players that's CL & PL.

no, not for a player of his calibre.

the Champions League is for the best of the best & that's what KDB is.

given the money City spend & the squads they can assemble, winning leagues should very much be their bread & butter, it's expected & anything less is deemed as a failure.

the Champions League is where it's at.

943 million pounds, 4 years later & 2 formats later & his manager can't even get him passed the quarter finals.

    KDB deserves better.

The Champions League is the Holy Grail. KDB is a Messiah.

Didn't realise KDB was 29. He definitely needs to be adding a CL to this haul. Has another big move in him I'd imagine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,531 ✭✭✭✭noodler

A worthy winner. Couldn't have complained if Mane got it either.

So he would leave an ageing City squad to then join an ageing Munich squad?

Unless Pool are going to fork out huge money there's no point discussing the Liverpool side of things.

I haven't a clue where I think he should go. Madrid?

But you don't mention everything he has achieved and perhaps the manger got him to Messiah statues.
