Hi there. I will be arriving into Ireland on the 19th June from New Zealand and will need to self-isolate for 14 days. I am not able to do this in my family home so am looking for accommodation that is available for two weeks, preferably somewhere in Munster. Does anyone know where I can find an available apartment/house/holiday home for two weeks at a reasonable rate please? I have looked online but many options are quite expensive.

The authorities have no powers to arrest you for not self isolating they can only fine you if you don't fill out the form on arrival. What reasons can't you isolate at home? Is it possible for you to get a test before you leave to see if you have already had the virus.

You could try the City West hotel facility that was rented by the government and now used - I believe - for this purpose

That's being used as a facility for those with confirmed covid that cant isolate at home or those who need a step down facility, you wouldn't be going in there if you land into Ireland

This is what happens in Perth. This lady got bussed from the airport to a hotel with meals brought to her hotel room.

We're doing things so wrong here. Get off a plane, organise your own isolation and travel to your place, you won't have food in your new place, so have go to the shops.

Very little tourists around this year, our hotels are empty and they don't have a hotel for passengers to quarantine.

    It's an absolute joke.

I'm staying here for two weeks. 400 for the two weeks. Just don't want to risk elderly mother at home in case I do have it and gives me a chance to sort proper accommodation for myself.

Same price for the two weeks you need.

I'm in the same boat as you and want to keep away from my family just in case I pick it up on the journey. Thanks for sending this through, will have a look into it.

Yes, checked with HSE and I'd need to get referred here by a doctor. Unlikely that's going to happen and a little wary of staying somewhere where confirmed cases are present.

It's the same as what happens here in NZ, which is probably why we only have one active case left! Wish Ireland would provide a similar option.

If the HSE would let you use it, and tbh as other have said it isn't being used for that purpose, then it'd be perfectly fine.

You'd stay in a hotel room with its own bathroom and food would be brought.

Do you have a GP in your home town in Ireland you can contact?
Who the self-isolation facility is for

If you cannot self-isolate at home you may need to be admitted to the self-isolation facility if you:

have tested positive for coronavirus and have mild symptoms

have tested positive for coronavirus, are recovering in hospital and about to be discharged

are waiting on a test or test results and have mild symptoms

don't have symptoms, but have been told to self-isolate

You must be well enough to care for yourself and not need any other specialist care or help.

    Read more about coronavirus testing.

How you get admitted to the self-isolation facility

You need a referral from one of the following:

    hospital

    GP

    contact tracing team
