Laptop for student starting college

    My daughter is starting college in October. She will be doing a teaching degree. Some of her initial lectures will be online, until after Xmas. She has a MacAir which is 6 years old and sound going on it. One of the computer shops said it's not worth repairing. She wants another MAC laptop, but the cheapest refurbished one from Apple in Cork is 1325. I am reluctant to spend this though I know MAC's never slow down like other computers. Can someone recommend an alternative for a student. She will also be using it for homes - watching Netflix, stuff on Youtube etc.
