Antanov Airlines, which is owned by Antanov State Enterprise, which in turn is owned by the Ukrainian state.

I'd say it will take off the other way. Don't think it would be able to do a 180 at the other end of the runway?

Well if that aircraft wasn't able to do that 180 degree turn at the end of that runway at Shannon Airport, wouldn't that have meant that Antonov Airlines have no right to be offering international commercial freight services with the very same aircraft?
Isn't that what that wider space found at the end of many large runways for?

Yes, and Shannon has the exact same turning zone at both ends.

Turn left at the main terminal, into the car hire area and you'll be feet away from the plane. It will taxi from there. Not sure where's the best spot for viewing takeoff.

We (3 of us) went into the main terminal this morning (no security at the entrance) to enquire about take off time tomorrow. We were the only 3 people in the airport. Thought that was very strange. Terminal was deserted. Then tonight I saw on Shannon Airport Twitter that the main terminal is closed to visitors. Oops!

Seems a bit odd hiring something as specialist (and presumably expensive to hire) as the 225 just to ship PPE. Massive capacity obviously, but surely a 'normal' freighter would be cheaper?

You just said the reason "massive capacity" how many normal aircraft would it take to fly to China to bring what they just brought .

Money no object to Irish gov...covid blank check.

A million gowns they're gonna go through in 12 days. A billion euro on gowns and face masks by xmas. Go into any hospital and you'll see they're mostly for show.

A million people on waiting lists now. Chrildrens hospital is another 100million more to build.

Wind at 040 degrees so they'll be departing from 06....IE towards the east. Looks like they're running late anyway.

I might be wrong, but this was only the 5th time this old bird landed in Ireland. If true, pretty rare, no? Apart from the social distancing, it was great to see the younger ones taken such an interest.

I don't suppose anyone knows the previous dates?

I stopped in Shannon on the Dublin - Baltimore flight a few years ago (early 2000's) and there was an Antonov taking off. I suspect it was probably the smaller one. I didn't know much about them back then, but I'd be curious to cross reference the dates and see if it was the 225 I saw.
