blu ray drive from old PC

Can I just buy any old caddy and connect up to laptop with usb and away I go?

IF! (Big word) If you are able to find an enclosure, yes you can use it via USB. I have a laptop Blu-Ray player in an enclosure that requires 2 USB ports to power it.


Question time... Is the drive 5.25" IDE or SATA? Or, is it a SLIM laptop size? As the 5.25" MAY require a power brick that makes it less mobile.

Some PCS have a slimline BluRay drive. They aren't always 5.25.

I also have an external slimline BR drive, similarly needs two USB to work. Its much slower than a 5.25 for writing and reading. For movie playback its not been an issue, but I don't use it for that.
