    No alternatives so lads?

Another day for the hurlers in the ditch!!!! fantastic!!!

We could go back to not having FF in government and have them hurling on the ditch, though I'd prefer them in a pit covered in silage. That would be swell.

Well for a start, do something about the Meat Factory's, Factory's in general causing the issues. Spot checks daily, closed down until they sort their **** out.

how does this NOT make sense?
Sort out the arrivals in the airports, when asked about testing at airports during the press conference yesterday, Donnelly went onto to talk about online locator forms (ive heard that for 2 months now)

Stop tourists arriving, send them home unless they can prove they are here for more than 14 days (and put them up in City West until 14 days is up)

    Or this?
Not tell everyone to stay at home but send kids back school ignoring everything they said yesterday.

    That is a start!
    Shefwedfan wrote: »
None of that makes sense, if that was implemented it would cause more confusion.

    Really?

More confusion than what we have now?
No problem with people complaining about the new protocols. Some dont make sense to me but at least have somethign as an alternative.

You literally got given alternatives and you haven't refuted any of them. Just blathered on. What's wrong with implementing anything that dundalk has said above?

Dont need a white paper. But just interested to see what people say and its same rubbish. No plan. Of its close the meat factories, what about all other factories? do they get closed?

You extrapolated from dundalk suggesting "spot checks" to now closing down all meat factories. You know exactly what this process could entail.

How do you tell what a tourist is v someone on business? stop anyone with a big suit case? even if you let them in are you telling me what human rights will allow you to lock them up for 14 days?

How do you normally tell someone is a business vs a leisure traveller?

The rights of people coming into this State from outside do not supersede those of us who live here. There are ways and means to do these things. They are not difficult to implement but the half-arsed approach is not exactly working out either.

Did you think what Australia did impinged on the rights of travellers there back at the beginning of the pandemic?

All these people shouting and roaring and they haven't a clue.
I know. You really should stop ranting at those who are giving options. Maybe try and break down what exactly is wrong with these suggestions rather than your usual glib and smartarse ripostes.

I don't agree with the plans, but I dont see anyone come up with an better alternative.

I suppose the last-minute cabinet meeting plan is working so well though.

The problem in the factories is people, I have had confirmed some staff put ice on them before going in to make sure they passed a test. So if you are closing all meat factories then you need to close all factories.

People have already been discouraged from coming into Ireland, that is not stopping them. So what is "threating them the same" mean? what are you going to do?

So one anecdote from a disingenuous poster is what we should base all of this on?

FF/FG seem incapable of change. They can't help but 'look after their own'. We saw it after the crash. We seem to be seeing it now.
It's led to the ruination of the economy, society and now bad decisions during a pandemic.

Maybe Leo will give us a few film quotes or Trump style tweets.

The 'bigger lobbies' win typically Shef.

The big hotel and pub owner lobby seems to be winning here, doesn't it?

you clearly don't have your ears and eyes open if you haven't realised the actual government presser was confusing and that confusion is continuing all over the airwaves today.

The biggest sporting body in the country have even lain down a gauntlet to NPHET. Wakey wakey.

Still no answer Francie, more waffle.

Lets say it again. What would you do?? ask your mates while you read out boards to them. Thet might have some ideas

I would try to govern without dithering and chaos.

Clear and concise messages and policy.
Do not say things like 'we are following expert advice' when you are not, you are making political decisions based on who has the loudest voice.

Would having to check with the AC not add an extra layer of ‘management’ to your governance?

Look at up North where poor Bobby’s ‘funeral’ was pure chaos, and a coach and four driven through the regs.

Would’nt promulgate too much confidence, a chara.

Such dishonest lunacy.....1/2 meat factory workers were found to aspomathic,

Its obvious enough, its been picked up on holidays back to eastern europe, and likes of goodman and quelly group not paying extra holidays or for quarantine period upon return leading to lads having to work

We should bring in 2 week paid off for quarantine for all forgien workers on top of their holidays, factories are glad to gouge on wages/terms make them pay for this mess

Ha ha ha the auld ‘go to ‘ mantra of the ‘bullhorn brigade’. Let the ‘rich’ pay.

The auld magic money tree is fairly droopy looking now.

Think if they brought a letter saying they'd been tested a few days before coming back they didn't have to quarantine, even though the most likely source of infection would be the airport (s) and plane (s) returning to Ireland.

2 weeks paid quarentine for all foreign workers?
Why stop there, why not 2 weeks paid for all workers who go on foreign holidays?
    That's a ridiculous suggestion.
Not all or even close to all foreign workers work in meat factories or even factories.

Again I think you are just trying to get post count up. You posted the same thing hours ago. I have the same answer by the way

The message was clear and concise. They told everyone exactly what the new guidelines are on live broadcast, then went onto primetime. Released on facebook and done a number of radio interview. What exactly is not clear to you?

Ahh yes it was "da foreigner"

Can't beat a little bit of Irish racism.

Sure we would be grand if it wasn't for "da foreigner"

Let not forget the original outbreak was brought to Ireland by........"da Irish" who had to go on holidays to Italy even after been told not to.

Mate....meat prices are through the roof this year?

Up by near on 20% at farm gate in some cases.....everyone is making good money in that sector this year,

if they want to pack their plants with eastern europeans, let them pay for quarantine after they return to visit families.....no point in letting society breakdown to line billionaires pockets imo

Meat price up....milk is white gold. We may all quit our job and become farmers

Exactly the same thing as is not clear to the largest sporting organistion in the country - the reasoning and rationale.

Just as stupid and equally brain-dead contribution since Leo's "white middle class male" brainfart.

The GAA need money, the main source of revenue is shut down. The government just shut down all sports. Of course they are going against it

This actually proves your "lobby" as the rubbish it it, do you not think the GAA would be one of the first to get their way?

The GAA is about more than money. Tremendous effort has gone into getting compliant.

Not aware of the GAA being heavyweight lobbyists.
Doesn't explain the rationale though when set against other allowed gatherings

I'm simply pointing out silly posts - that's not ranting and raving.

You are trying to pull the racist card out because people have suggested eastern European meatplant workers returning from their home countries should be allowed to quarantine at the meat processing plants cost. (It's racist to suggest they're given a privilege now, what )

That's no more racist than to suggest that it's mandatory for Paddy Moloney from Carlow to self quarantine after coming back from Santa Ponsa or another country not on the green list.

Please, put a little bit of thought into your posts before submitting them, it's not too much to ask.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,874 ✭✭✭Edgware

Nothing racist there kid....no point in burying head in ground and pretending its those from D4 and kids of ffg members getting this in meat factories lines....but sure scream racism to shut down debate

(Actually didnt you pedel.the line they were putting ice in mouth etc to cheat the temp checks?)

    Did anyone say otherwise??

I thought it was the "horsey" crowd coming from Cheltenham Joe

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,365 ✭✭✭✭McMurphy

For clarity sake,i do also believe the same should be offered to brazillian meat factory employees (and any other country!)

In case more people pile in screaming racist

I think that was pretty clear for everyone , bar the hard of understanding, or the faux outrage brigade.

Foreign workers who may be getting exploited by the meat processing plants should be allowed to self quarantine, on full pay if they're returning to Ireland from their home countries, assuming those countries aren't on the green list = "racist"

You couldn't make this shyt up, you really couldn't. :D

Haha this is the same slur used to try and distract from the criticism of Keelings. Some hope of this one working for the spin unit.

How can those giving out about the meat factories employees be racist if those are the same people asking for direct provision to be shut down?, How does the spin unit square that one?
