Do you think this would have been a time to have a national government involving all parties rather than having what we have at the moment? Surely a national crisis such as this pandemic requires a national government all working together and none of this he said she said finger pointing ****e we currently have.

    Certainly on covid.
All parties, should be involved in decision making and approaching it from the same perspective.
It's, probably the clearest and best way of getting the message across for sure.
The problem is now that all of them have been involved in serious breaches in one way or another.

Not even honest enough to name who you are talking about...just the snide remarks.

You were sickened when I posted a photo with your name written on a piece of paper after you tried to claim I wasn't doing what I said I was doing...and ever since have implied/accused me of breaking regs.

My 'mates' where my neighbours and we observed all of the rules and restrictions without any issue whatsoever.

Building work was in lockdown, considered non-essential and you built a wall with others - self-evident and self-proclaimed breach of regulations.

Doesn't matter whether they were your neighbours, it was against regulations. I deliberately didn't name you, wasn't pointing fingers at any poster.

It wasn't against regs do be involved in DIY work around your home. Stop digging that hole ever deeper.

'Wasn't pointing fingers'...ha ha ha. You are a gas man, you think people are stupid?

Its not top of the class at being worst
True figures for early in play weren't available because of UK policy to only test the hospitalised
So there was always a strong uncounted virus presence up north with nothing being done due to British policy
Today we're still seeing that and affected by this now still too by the consequences of an open border with GB who seem to be permanently in denial on C19 and relaxing of restrictions
    The whole island is
We need to double up on prevention personally instead of playing politics with it

    https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/health/coronavirus/craigavon-ambulance-staff-test-positive-for-covid-after-golf-trip-39557632.html

"The Belfast Telegraph can reveal that 10 staff members from the Southern Division base tested positive for the virus following a social event — believed to be a golf trip to the Republic — and a further six have had to self-isolate and are unavailable for work."

What were they doing going on a golf trip to the South? Does the government up there not have its eye on the ball?

What were the Govt doing when the big piss up in Clifden was going on, oh wait the scumbags were at the event.

What were the Govt doing when the Rave took place in Dublin City Centre the weekend?

What are the the Govt doing about the house partys in student gaffs going on all over the 26 counties every night?

What did the Govt do about that event down country with 400 people were at indoors?

Do we need to go on.

The Golf Event in Tullamore, were Golfers from Dublin, what were the Government doing?

What were the Government doing when NPHET told them to close down Dublin a week before they did?

What were the Govt doing for 6 months, that they still havnt even recruited enough staff never mind have testing and tracing ready for the winter.

Please dont reply with but IRA, Sinn Fein, DUP, Mary Lou, Gerry Adams, Funerals as they have nothing to do with any of the Govts failures here (even though you blamed the DUP and Sinn Fein on the mess here yesterday)

    No, that’s on the business.

Surprising to see posters like yourself letting businesses off with a pass.

The meat factories didn’t buy enough PPE. The Bridge House Hotel let a group of 40 golfers stay there. Golf clubs let them play, and pubs and restaurants opened their doors to them. All of those activities were against government guidelines and are on the businesses.

    blanch152 wrote: »
The virus can only get out of control if ordinary people and ordinary businesses are reckless and careless and don't take personal responsibility for what they do.

The Government can't sit outside the Bridge House Hotel and count the number of people going in together. Neither can they be everywhere at everytime for every time a doorbell rings to check how many people are going into a house. You would need 300,000 gardai to monitor all that.

So it all comes down to personal responsibility. We know that there are around 25% of the population who have a Trump/Johnson/Brexit attitude to everything but the rest of us have to be responsible even when they won't.

Absolve the government of any responsibility here.

    Parody.

Rubbish. Once again the mask slips.

The name of our state is Ireland. We no longer have a territorial claim on the rest of the island. It was removed as part of the GFA - we only want to reunite the people, not the territory.

Northern Ireland is a part of the UK.

Them's the facts, live with it.

Irish people laying claim to the occupied portion of the Irish province of Ulster on the island of Ireland is a secret?

It's an odd one. Pre Covid due to health and safety nightclubs, pubs, bars with food etc. had a maximum capacity. The authorities might shut you down if you exceeded it.
If restaurant staff were picking their nose or not washing their hands they might be closed or sanctioned in some way by the authorities.
...but during a Covid pandemic we can't expect the FF/FG/Green led authorities to get involved? Its not so much 'we are all in this together' more 'yis are on your own'? Ridiculous blarney to take responsibility off the authorities.

    Apparently it is a secret.

As Francie will tell you, being so intimately acquainted with the GFA and all its terns and conditions which he routinely wheels out when it suits the Irish People have abandoned that territorial claim. We even had a referendum and the "Irish People" specifically chose to abandon the claim.

The Irish people have no claim on Northern Ireland.

We abandoned the claim when we amended Articles 2 and 3.

    No wrong again.

Outside of the mad mad world of Sinn Fein, democracies operate on the will/ vote of the people. Beneath that there are a complex web of laws, rules regulations etc. Stray Sinn Fein IRA members or dissidents or flat earthers are not entitled to "lay claim" to whatever they like from time to time or to appoint themselves to murder random people for 30 years

    Risteard81 wrote: »
The Six Occupied Counties are in IRELAND.

There is no such thing as "Ireland and Northern Ireland" and to suggest otherwise is seditious and treasonous.

There is no "laying claim", there is a statement which purports to be factual, when it is anything but. All I was doing was correcting the inaccurate facts presented by the poster.

Any flat earther can state that the world is flat, they can claim that the world is flat, but they are factually wrong.

Similarly, you or Risteard or any republican with a laptop can claim that there is no such thing as Ireland and Northern Ireland, but, like a flat earther, they are factually wrong, as has been explained many times.

If you want to put yourself in the same category as a flat earther, please go ahead. Pretending that somebody laid a claim when they were stating something as factual is just silliness in debating.

One of the biggest problems here is the casual throwing around of false narratives and claims and portraying them as facts.

I don't mind differing opinions, but when people try to twist facts or other people's words into other meanings, it should be rebutted.

No but it can be discussed on a relevant thread.

This is not a Sinn Fein thread, no matter how much you and your mates are obsessed with Sinn Fein.

This is about the current Govt, as can be seen by anyone viewing this, no matter what question is made about the Govt the defalt answer by many here is Sinn Fein.

We even had 1 poster claim SF and DUP were the issue to all the Covid problems on the island, picking various articles about rules been broke oin the 6 counties, and when asked about rule breaking here and what the Govt are doing, they say ah but Sinn Fein.

1 thing the Govt and authorites are doing up North is fines for rule breaking, students suspended from college, regular patrols in certain areas where rules are been broken (i.e Holylands and other student areas in Belfast)
What are the Govt and Gardai doing here, Investigating events that took place weeks ago, that will help the spread

It dosnt work like that anymore in the world, all the info is out there and FF and FG saying SF this Sinn Fein that, is part of the reason SF "won" the election (Leo's words) and FG had their worst election in decades.

Now back on topic, Any update on the Clifden enquiry by the Gardai.

Eh, look at the post again

"They can't seem to make any decisions", the central point of the post, is an opinion. The use of the word "seem" makes that clear.

If I had the time I could go through the last six months and point to several times where the SF/DUP government took decisions following on from the FG decisions a week later. That is factually accurate.
