Done to the highest of standards but that doesnt excuse the poor taste! Not all enthusiast ownership should be seen as a positive when buying...

Just drove in and seen the car. Its in bits! Covered in swirls, dents down both doors and the back left door has been knocked in. A typical irish car that is probably already sold
    Abugarcia wrote: »
It can if some of the dents are in a specific spot that there is no clear access to.

In the case that sparked this "debate" would holes be required?
I suppose we'd need a professionals view though.

Lads, this is a good thread. Leave the handbags to the EV owners:D

Back OT, this is how a Golf R should look.

Unless I'm calculating it wrong that 2017 R is about 44k by the time it's cleared. 10% duty as it's UK not NI

Chap in work has one in exactly same colour and wheel spec. Great looking car, he keeps it immaculate too.

Speaking of hand bags I have just noticed are there any female golf gti/R owners on here... Asking for a friend a rare sight on Irish roads

    Very understated and classy.

I bought a set of these OEM mats for it last week, only a small thing but they really freshen up the interior.

Looks a lot like the one a lad in work won off R Kings recently enough

Out of curiosity, would anyone know roughly how much the haldex service/oil change and dsg service/oil change would cost for a Golf R?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,888 ✭✭✭hooch-85

Haldex €110 from Daltons. DSG I'm not sure.

@hooch-85 - your front tyre looks a little down on pressure? It could be the angle too but worth checking it if you haven’t recently.

Good spot, I noticed it myself after taking the photo. It was being propped up by an awkward bit of stone, but it was down 2lbs so they were all checked and pumped before it was put back in the shed.

Bring on some good weather and hopefully freedom to drive our cars properly again.

What are the best looking/fitting mud flaps for the mk7.5 gtd. I have a standard generic set that cams on the car. They’re not the fitted ones that fit around the bottom of the rear bumper and side skirts nicely. They’re only on it because of the sheer dirt of the roads the last few months. Do most people use them any more on mk7 gti’s or gtd’s?

It's the cleanest one I came across. I was mad for one for years and tried to buy one belonging to a member on here but it was too much of a stretch for me at the time he was moving it on. One previous owner, a middle aged guy based in West Sussex, full VW history. I'm glad I bought when I did as prices are only going one way it seems:D

Are these the "better" mats over the standard ones that come with the car?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,888 ✭✭✭hooch-85

Yes, they have a much thicker pile and are more comfortable under foot. Fitment is 100% as you'd expect.

Need them on mine 19's kick up a lot of dirt... Fitted dealer ones I'm happy enough with the fitting

Wouldn't be like VW to tell porkies now would it?

I watched this video yesterday. It's a second and a half quicker than the 7.5 R was from 100-200km. Either there's more horsepower or else the new rear differential and improvements to the gearbox have made a big difference.

    Either way, it's pretty impressive.

A Cupra DSG oil change is in the €400 neighbourhood from quotes I’ve gotten, not sure if the R would differ much?

Haven't seen this colour seats before in a gti. Other than that, seems okay value?

I've seen that on one other GTI and a couple of Rs but yeah, seems to be decent value.

Those leather seats are aftermarket I'd say. I don't think they were ever offered on the GTi from the factory.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,441 ✭✭✭JoeA3

aftermarket seats. Black leather was the only factory option.

    That’s odd.

It looks like the steering wheel and gaitor at stitched in the same colour. Hardly offered Marrakesh in the first of the Mk7?
